Long story short.
When I first got into cars I wanted something fun but also a hybrid for gas. I thought the CRZ would be great.

After getting significantly more into cars, and test driving several, the CRZ is just...Soulless, I guess.

Still, every time I see one in the road I turn my head. They're unironically gorgeous. But someone was telling me that even if you heavily mod the car, the goddamn chassis will start tearing apart or something past 200+ HP.

Is there anything that can be done about it? Everything about the car is shit other than the handling, shifter, and styling.

It was supposed to be a modern CRX before Honda went full retard with the hybrid drive train. Now it has about the same amount of power as the original CRX but weighs an extra 1000+ pounds, oh and has none of the benefits associated with being a Hybrid.

This is bullshit. That will not happen. That person is retarded.

a 200+ hp crx would still be slower and less fun than a c6 corvette

The CR-Z was a great idea ruined by a shit execution.
They wanted to jump on the retro train with the Beetle, Mustang, Challenger, Camaro, Thunderbird, and Mini. They got the looks spot on to make it a retro CR-X.
Every other decision that followed though was disastrous.
They decided to use the Honda Fit chassis. This completely ignored the fact the CRX used the Civic chassis and that the C in CRX stood for Civic. They should have used the 8th gen Civic platform instead. They could have made the Fit platform to work, but they didn't modify the suspension in any way
Then they made it a hybrid instead of giving it the K-series it deserved in hopes of stealing some sales from the immensely popular Prius. Let this be a lesson kids. Don't combine modern fads with retro styling. It doesn't work.
The car is too heavy and to focussed on being sporty to be a good hybrid. Fuel economy numbers are identical to that of a non-hybrid Fit. And it's too focussed on being a hybrid to be any good at being sporty and fun.

So the end result was an overweight monster to heavy and too neutered to be fun and the only thing good about it are its looks.

So how do you fix this? Simple. Buy a Honda Insight and K-swap it.

This

They could have given it a small, lightweight naturally aspirated engine, taken off half a ton of weight, and it would get the same mileage with a significantly lower cost

Also the European CRZ's have a backseat but the US ones don't, I guess because Americans are too fat

To be fair, the modern Fit is basically what the Civic was way back - the modern Civic is like... Accord sized.
>>
>>16536625
The reason to use the Civic chassis over the Fit chassis would be for the double wishbone IRS and the overall suspension geometry that makes it fun.
>>
>>16536631
But it uses the ZR1 chassis dude...Not the fit chassis, it's exclusive to the CRZ
>>
>>16536682
explain why the suspension, seats, dash electrics, and front and trunk floorpan is identical to the Fit's

It's a modified Fit chassis, but still a Fit chassis. Exclusive to the CR-Z my ass.

I'm just saying chassis codes don't lie man
Don't really see why it bothers you so much

>I'm just saying chassis codes don't lie man
yes they do.
The EM2 and ES1 were different chassis codes. So what was actually different between the cars? One was a coupe, the other a sedan. Everything not related to 2 door vs 4 door was interchangeable

>Buy a Honda Insight and K-swap it
You're insane. For everything at fault with the CRZ it's still miles better than the goddamn insight.
No, you can K-Swap a CRZ and actually get a really good car. Only issue I've heard is that the engine bay is actually a really tight fit.
One absolutely hilarious idea someone had is gutting the engine and transmission and replacing them with the 13b from the RX7 FC. It's tiny and would fit with ample room.
The only issue left after that point is that it's still a FWD...So really, it's kind of a lost cause.
