I did a compression test and all my cylinders are above 120 psi ice cold. And I forgot to hold the throttle open at the same time. What else other than a blown hg could be causing my coolant burning? The car is also not over heating and not very down on power.

Went and got the estimate from the insurance adjuster. He said 3k but he also lowballed it because the guy who hit me and the motorcycle had the minimum coverage so it's splitting 10k between a totaled motorcycle and the damage to my car, and because I guess if the damage was worth more than the car they would've counted it as totaled and just given me the amount the car is worth.

He pretty much said that he wouldn't replace the headgasket as the rings could be fried, head could be warped, needs to be machined etc. He did say that he'd do the work on the weekend to not charge me tax though. He seemed like an honest cool guy. Owns an R32 as well as a big single turbo mk4 supra drift car.

Anyone here got experience with the ES300? I'm looking at a second gen for a comfy, reliable DD and these seem to fit the bill pretty well. They're not as quiet as the LS' I've tested, but I can't find a single one of those in decent condition in my budget up north.

So I'm looking to buy a used FR-S/GT86/BRZ so that I can put a Jackson Supercharger in it. However, Should I be looking for one with the Sport-tech package? I can't find online a simple checklist of what comes in the Sport-tech over the base model.

272hp, surprisingly quick, mushy as fuck ride/accel/brakes but that's what you're signing up for with an ES/LS/older Lexus.

Super comfy, perfect GT cruiser type of car, i.e. long roadtrips, non-sporty driving.

Even when thrashed recklessly, you can learn the limits of the car relatively easily because it has more power than grip, and massive bodyroll/understeer, so you'll feel it getting loose even at relatively low speeds, like taking a hard hairpin at 25-30mph for example.

I will. I'm still trying to decide whether I should keep the suspension stock, use the original struts and lowering springs and see how long until they blow, or buy some cheap coils. I know the ma70 race cars had super stiff suspension to counter act the semi-retarded suspension design. Not really a race car driver though and tems is pretty comfy for a daily.

Any tC2 owners lurking?

I expressed that there's mods and it's above the KBB value for this reason, and now they're trying to work with me to raise the value of the car so it won't be in the "totaled" region with the cost of repairs and I can just get it repaired.

Assuming that doesn't work out though, and they gave me a little over 3k, there's some tC2's in my area between 10k-13k depending on the year/mileage, which I would most likely end up buying to replace the box due to the bullet proof engine, still technically having a hatch, and basically being a camry with a less boring design. I know the tC1 had some oil burning issues, can any tC2 owners here comment on the car though, how they like driving it, any problems they have, etc? Most online reviews basically just say it's a sportier looking camry and not much else, so I'm looking for some more insight.

I'm quite a fan of it. It's not like it's actually any maintenance, it just werks, like an iPhone or something. Mk3 Supra suspension geometry is kind of silly so it benefits from reducing articulation, but you don't really want it to be as stiff when you're driving through a shitty downtown road doing 40.

From what I understand, it's not much of a hassle to maintain it aside from finding the right struts when they need replacing is difficult and expensive.
But it basically changes suspension stiffness so if you are driving around a city casually you can have softer suspension and a more comfortable ride. Then when you want to get some more speed and handling out of it you can stiffen up the suspension.

yeah, the bolt is under the intake manifold on top of the starter so youre supposed to throw a wrench on that so it doesnt move and get the nut from the back of the transmission, but its almost at the top of the transmission so i dont even know what to do. it's insane, i want to rooty tooty point and shooty myself

My project car at the moment is a beat up old '85 Corolla, and it needs a lot of work. I'm thinking about saving up and buying a Lexus SC300 or LS400 for my dd while I work on it. It depends on what you want to do with it though.
You could do a nice sleeper.
The 7MGTE nearly bolts in at least it has the same mounts asthe 5M, you'll need a harness and ECU to run it but it's simpler and cheaper than a 2J and can still make stupid power on the cheap.
My own take on it is get a 5 speed (W58/R154) into it as fast as possible, I drove my sedan for 2 months automatic and constantly wanted to smash my face against a brick wall before swapping it.

My mechanic thinks in better served to torque the stock ones unless I'm gonna do the whole headgasket. I think he's right. I have the ARP's and I'll just do the headgasket in the summer but for now it'll be torqued down tight on the stock bolts and only pushing 12psi.

The general consensus is that about 15 psi can be held just fine on the stock headgasket if it's a healthy motor that's been torqued properly. 10 psi is where you get with mild upgrades such as intake, exhaust, etc. Yes, my mechanic does know. In fact, he asked me what I would like to run and I told him and he said it should be fine. He also owned mk3, and now owns an r32 GTR and a mkiv supra single turbo drift car, so I trust him, as well as most of supra fourms.

New motor is almost ready. Head bolts was already torqued apparently. Going to run it without the boost controller for a while. Wouldn't want to suddenly stress a motor that's been sitting in a warehouse for who knows how long.
Anon may have a point about 12lbs being a lot. We'll see what it's like with just the intake and exhaust for a while.
