Hi guys,
I Drive a civic se 2007, a while ago when i changed my front brake pads and discs there was a screeching sound from my left front wheel after we changed them, like the piston of the caliper was not coming back and was pushing against the pads, therefore ruining the pads and disc.
So I had my mechanic change the caliper and get a new set of discs and pads and everything seemed well but today the screeching started again. It definitely sounds like the pads scraping against the disc but I only hear it at low speed. Any idea what it is?
Pic unrelated, great music imo

is the rotor bent?

Probly just breaking the pad in. Unless the pedals gone squishy or the wheels feel hot after a drive i wouldnt be worried bruh

>pads scraping against the disc
That's how brakes work
Dr. Dog is the tits. I've seen them twice.

I can smell something burnt in the wheel and last time it happened my pads were burnt all the way through and the disk was Blue from the heat

Sounds like serious rotor runout, either ur mechanic fucked your rotors, or you need some new ones.
Or you could have some seal problems at the piston. Can't think of anything else.

Sounds like a boost leak

The rotors are also new, that is what Imeant by disc
Did he/you apply brake grease/shims to the back of the pads before installing?

This. Your brake pads are supposed to lightly touch the rotors at all times. Drive the car more. If you actually needed a new caliper in the first place, you'd be able to tell when you replaced your rotors/pads. It would have felt like driving with your handbrake on.

The pads are not to touch all the times. When you release that pedal the piston of the caliper should retreat veeeery slightly. This is what allows disc brakes to feel firm from when they're brand new to worn out without any adjustments needing to be made

Well yeah, I'm just telling OP a tiny bit of rubbing if the car has new brakes or has been sitting for a while is 100% normal.
As you know the pads should always be just barely not touching the rotors, constantly wiping away water.

I Drive the car mostly everyday and it never does that sound, i have changed the pads and rotors 2-3 months ago and they just started doing it again. I suspect because of winter the friction was not as great but the last few Days the temperature has been rising up
