I bought a 4k accord, put 50k mi on it, had the tranny die (with a LOT of notice, it was kinda shit when I bought it), and it was $900 for a replacement used transmission with about $500 of labor to put it in.

I put a trans cooler, fresh synthetic fluid and inline filter on the replacement trans and it's perfectly fine (since it's an overheating/no filter issue as to why they die).

My accord has 240k on it and it's perfectly fine now, and I've had it for 6 years, will probably have for at least another 2. You don't get that from a lease for ~5.5k.
