How has an automaker not:
>use they're small FWD 4-door 4-banger platform (Corolla, Civic, Fiesta)
>remove rear seats, flip engine and trans to rear
Mid-rear engine, 2 door coupe.
It would weigh ~2,500lbs, and maybe cost $20-25k for the base model making 175-225HP or $30k-35k for a turbo model making around 300HP.
Because that's not how platform engineering works, let alone chassis design?
Not to mention most shit box econo cars have horrible rear suspensions.

Watch out guys, we got an engineering major here.
Fucktard, the read suspension would be completely different because it would now be the powered set of wheels.

renault did this

So did Rover
>rear subframe is almost identical to front subframe on a different, FWD, car
>front hubs still have half of a CV joint inserted

Desire to fit Rover 25 front engine and axle into MGF intensifies.
>>16531025
I don't think anyone ever did it, but there is no reason why it wouldn't fit, you'd just need a metro subframe to carry the engine and then it's just a case of cutting out the spare wheel well and working out how to get the throttles and gear linkages to work.

becuase they want CURRENT YEAR bloated dogshit instead.
I think it could be doable cheaply.
>take gt86 platform
>use engine bay as frunk
>remove rear seats which were near useless anyway
>engine over rear axle
>leave suspension same up front
>similar body with a few changes, rear notchback instead of how it is now
Toyota tried with the MR2. People don't like snap oversteer.

B-but muh /o/ meme machine
The fiero sold well but never made any money.
