If you're in a place where filtering isn't a common sight I would suggest you only do it when there's a clear route for you to pass and get back into lane. Cagers who aren't used to it tend to get more pissy about it and will try to block you getting back into lane. If you were doing it somewhere like London where there are tons of bikes and people constantly filter nobody would even look at you.

I got very close to running out of fuel, and my phone ran out of battery so I had to ask a kind of farmer if I could use a plug in his house to charge it. He even made me a cup of yorkshire tea.
