Fixed it. Found a pin hole on the heater to head coolant hose. It's right by the head so I'll cut it and put it back on.

I'm trying to get a vehicle that will do decently in snow and ice. My current and first car is a 97 accord SE. I'm not crazy good with cars and won't have much time or a place to work on the car myself so a reliable and simple Honda seems like the best option.
I now CR-Vs are pretty good, my mom used to drive one. I've also looked at Acura MDX because I like the nicer interior.

I swapped over the one from the k20 head since it was the same part number and so I didn't have swap the sensors over, but yeah it was half assed because you're supposed to use like rvt or hondabond on the bolts which I'm pretty sure I didn't do.

We fender liner now. One side done so far. The fasteners I got don't fit but there were some still on the car and I'm just folding the fender tabs on top of the liner so it'll stay put. Only used two fasteners plus my three mud flap screws to install this one.

Yep it's pretty solid. Got fasteners at the bottom of the bumper, the front end of the car just in front of the suspension, and four screwed in behind the mud flaps. Now I'm ready for the rain for the next four days.

ok so what ive found for parts for head gasket replacement so far are

valve cover bolts are like 14$
ARP has no 1.7L d17 bots that fit according to their own site so idk where the fuck too look since amazon is really vague on this and keeps showing crx bolts which are apparently too short. i don't know that much about aftermarket part manufacturers desu what should i expect from the detoti?

7th gen has an idle issue related to throttle body and often the egr as well.

now shingus might be different. idle surging like echo fags where the check engine light keeps poping up happen on both egr and throttle body issues as far as i can tell. 7th has the issue mostly with d17 because the throttle body is out in the open with a large area to collect oil and dirt. ep3 has trouble more with vacuum and hose thanks to trying to be as compact as fucking possible in the engine bay resulting in wear on e hoses allowing clearance of more dirt/oil into them as well as wearing down to the point the ends flair out in some cases.

Yeah the grime really shows on my car when I put a light on it. It's pretty bad.

Update on the no thermostat life. Temp moves around quite a bit but never goes past the point when I had a thermostat. I'm also running mostly water too so i bet coolant will keep it steady.

Temp is just like before if I'm idling but gets lower when the car is moving fast enough.

I think I figured it out. Way too much pressure in my radiator hoses. Thinking the rad cap went bad. It never even got close to hot as you saw earlier. Stayed pretty low all day.

Those hoses were hard as rock, though. Kinda scary.

Hello fellow Honda owners. My days are once again full of free time for me to browse /o/, now that classes started up. Haven't been around since last year.

Never got around to talking with you guys or posting my car, but now that I just made my second Honda purchase, I figure I might as well go snap some pics. I'll have to find older ones for my other Honda though, since the head gasket is kill and its chillin' in my driveway back home.

Will post actual quality pics soon, hoping you guys can help give me some advice on what to do to it, since I'm on a college budget. It's still on warranty, so most performance mods are out of the question for now, but I still want to tinker with it. It doesn't quite feel like it's "mine" just yet...


Also in case it takes me a while to get back, I'll answer a few expected questions. Yes, it's an Accord, 2012 to be specific. It's a 6MT V6 EX-L, no navigation. It has the 18 inch rims, not the 17s. Got it with around 90k miles on it, put about 2k on myself so far. Payed somewhere around $12,500 for it which included free oil changes for life, and an addition 36k mile warranty. That's including taxes and interest as well (because I'm poor-ish so it's financed), which is crazy. Not sure why a bank decided to give me under a 3% interest rate considering I have no job and the payments get made using student loan refunds, but I won't complain. All they did was enable my VTEC addiction even more.

Only other things I can think of are just more upgrades. Most everything is fixed aside from the idle now. A new radiator cap should fix the issue I had last night. It wasn't releasing the pressure like it was supposed to.

I also think those new parts would eliminate the idle issue too. Other thing I'm thinking is a new steering wheel setup. Also a few suspension noises I need to pinpoint in the front. Most likely just lower control arm bushings.

the fact that it's intermittent and the VSA light comes on makes me think it's some sort of weird electrical issue. All of my shit gets cleaned up except the garage, laundry is done for me, all of my food is made and weighed for me. Hell sometimes I'll have her pack my shit for me and make me a schedule if I have a particularly busy day.

I've watched a couple videos on people installing them and one video showed a guy that had his wiring with 3 types of plugs (don't know the technical term), but my kit that I bought only came with these 2 in the pic. Paint keeps getting worse on my civic, haven't washed it in a while either. I never did the trunk properly either so it looks like shit now too. I should have sanded it much more thoroughly and cleared over it but I never got around to it.

I may end up going with a vinyl wrap but I'm worried that if I don't do the entire car it will look like garbage where the original paint is.

Spray canning the whole thing is another option but it will probably look bad too unless I spend $$$ on clear coat and then wet sanding and sealing the whole thing. I'll probably end up just spraying the hood and doing it right this time and maybe eventually fixing the trunk.

I didn't have A/C in any of my cars up until this year when I couldn't breathe due to how hot it was in that fucker. I'll keep everything intact in my 1990 incase I was it, however in the 1991 it's going to go. I don't need it, but when it's R12 charged it's nice to have. R12 in an R12 always feels like a freezer, love it.

The power steering I can tell from pics of the new one is shot. The line of throw P/S fluid on the hood was a give away. I'm going to loop the rack and get rid of all that weight. Might buy swaybars like I had on my 1990, then got rid of lol

Hello again /hg/,
It's the red/black 2000 prelude back with another problem.
That same fuse blew again, probably an exposed wire from when i installed my head unit, but that's not why I'm here.

Rained a ton in the last 24 hours and I found a puddle of water in my trunk. From what I can tell there is water coming in around the trunk air vent on the driver's side. I'm hoping that this should be able to be fixed by using a silicone caulk and sealing all around it. However because of the position of the jack holder I'm assuming the bumper would need to be removed to seal it on the outside of the trunk.

A couple of you might remember that I was hit and ran in that general area. In this picture you can see the other side of the air vent. So basically water is coming down normally, but it's hitting that air vent and flowing inside my trunk.
From what I can tell the vent isn't out of place, just exposed. I was really hoping to wait till the winter to get the body panel/bumper fixed as I'm in school and working at the moment.

i'm back now, went out to eat, i'd drive it and listen for bad wheel bearings, bounce the vehicle on all for corners to make sure the suspension's good, look at the valve cover for leaks, slam on the gas and make sure the motor stays smooth, normal stuff.
