What's the first car you think of when someone says 'supercar'?

Pretty much anything "Lambo" i guess.

Scissor doors/gullwing doors or any upwards opening doors on a mid-engine'd carbon fiber car also come to mind.

Pretty much this, but I'd probably replace the XJ220 with a 959. XJ220 is a beauty, though.

Super cool car, but a bit plain by supercar tastes. Drive down the street in an XJ220/F1/F40/Countach and everyone will shit the bed. The 959 is pretty but it just looks like someone having their mid-life crisis.

Ferraris and Lambos are just so generic, ubiquitous and bland, though. The Hoontach is an exception, though.

Without getting into hypercars, Pagani Zonda/Huayra, maybe.

In all honesty though, the first thing I think of is high-budget Pro Touring modified muscle cars. Everything from handling and power to interior quality and exterior looks is on the level, and they're all one-offs, yet financially still compare favorably to a lot of supercars, thanks in part to a very extensive aftermarket.

The 959 is just a tarted up 911, which is just a started up beetle.
Supercars should be a clean sheet design without compromise.

First car I think of is the Miura. It was unlike anything else before it, really exotic, yet not a race car. It's amazing and beautiful and shitty in all the right old supercar ways.

Quintessential supercar is the Countach. It's useless and ugly and dumb but it is THE supercar. Its more recognizable than any other car, it had a super long production run, and every supercar will always be compared to the Countach at some point.
