They're a lot of fun. The only downside over a GTI is that it's a beetle, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does have a reputation as a girls car. As an upside, IIRC, the Beetle is more aerodynamic than the Golf. Otherwise they're the same thing underneath.

Wrong, the new beetle is not on the excellent MQB platform as the new GTI, it is rather based on the old mk 6 Golf platform. So you're essentially getting an older generation car with actual less space and utility than its predecessor lol
