I agree, the DOT should not mandate cameras/airbags/etc, but who here has a car with one a decent screen and loves it? A quick head check, then back up looking at my hood/camera a few time a second. I thought auto headlights and wipers were the shit, but this is way more useful.
Anyone else feel the same or just more useless tech bullshit? FWIW my other car is as analog as you can get for the mid 2000s, and at least my Kia is a stick.

Its nice to have one. I can park my car just fine using the mirrors only. Helps at night when I dont wanna roll my windows down cause dark tint.

They're on a delay so I'm not a fan. Id rather just look with my eyes
My wifes son loves the cams on his car; makes backing up without any skill WAY easier

Pretty much agreed, horrific 5-door rear visablilty plus tint no fun at night. I don't use it to get in the "red zone" of curbs, just to not use my rearview mirror as this is better

That sucks, my 2013 model is instant.

Which is probably why they are legally mandated now.
Regardless, I'm a car guy, a purist, but on my DD shitbox, its fucking awesome. Just wondering if anyone else felt the same.

I installed them in my car and truck because it was cool technology and makes backing up safer.
I never look at it when backing up.
We have a 2014 Mazda3 hatchback with a camera. I don't like the camera.
The hatchback version of the 3 has terrible rear visibility. On paper, the camera therefore seems like a good idea. In reality, it sucks.
>washed out and ineffective at night
>any rain obscures the camera
>view angles aren't wide enough to fill in the areas obscured by the rear pillars where the camera would be most useful
I have given up on it completely and instead resorted to the age-old method of twisting around between the seats and making owl-like movements with my head to piece together a picture of what might be behind the car.
>kobo styling should have kept last-gen rear hatch design for best of all worlds
