Hey /o/
Looking for a car after mine burned to a loss in a garage fire. Aiming for something like pic related, 2012/2013 Buick Verano, going for $11k or under in my area/as far as I'm willing to drive.
My question is how much can i expect to get the dealer to lower asking price? For an $11k vehicle, would it be unreasonable to ask for $1k less and work down, or is that something that would make them laugh? Zero experience in haggling with a dealer. Also all of my options will be dealer based, not private.
What's the best deal you guys have managed to make?
Thanks for any advice.
help please

Why? It's a mediocre car. For a little bit more money you could get a CTS with a v6 and cooled seats, maybe even a manual if you're lucky. If you want a fwd buick for the same price you could get a lacrosse super.

Just interested in haggling tactics is all.
most dealerships have scrapped the whole haggling process what you see is what you get, although when it comes to the conveyance fee you can tell them to shove it, boom $500 saved

After you find a car you like start looking for things wrong (marks on the bumper, curb rashed rims, anything that looks a little off). Negotiate the best possible price without getting into how you plan on paying. Start to point out all the little things wrong with the car & see if they'll fix them or lower the price. Dealerships make most of their money through financing, so threaten to pay cash. Now you can say you'll consider financing with them if they can do something with the price. Only finance through the dealership if their is no penalty for paying off the car early. I got $1000 off my last car, both bumpers repaired, & the certification thrown in for free.
