Would a 1991 Mercedes-Benz E300 I6 make a good first daily? I assume $1850 is not a reasonable price for a car without a working radiator. What would be a good price?

Don't buy this car.
Go ahead and put the idea of a "badge" out of your mind. You need something Japanese, unless you have a hidden bank account somewhere ready to spend on repairs. Consider yourself warned.

You can afford an older Benz as long as you do it yourself.
My first two cars were 190e's

Actually, you're not even going to have to do much work on it if it was well-maintained in the first place.
Less than on a w211 at any rate.

Post the car. That isn't a 91

My bad, just saw that you posted the ad
Any benz prior to 2001 is a good purchase.
I own a W126 and W201 and trust me you can't get wrong with this.

Actually, a 1991, being a W124, would be a good first car. A W211 would not, unless your family runs an auto-shop. Like this guy said:

Needs radiator could mean the whole cooling system is fucked, including head gasket. Buy a clean one or dont buy one at all.
