LQ1: a 3.4L DOHC 24 valve V6 making anywhere from 200 HP (IRL production numbers) to 280 HP (preproduction numbers prior to second gen Fiero prototypes killing Corvettes.

MINUS THE TWIN TURBOS
>making a car in 1965
>turbos arent available
What the fuck? Turbos were available just a few years earlier
>>16482481
Basically, the game's meant to be a production car tycoon and ingame if you put a lot of tech into forced induction you'll be able to get turbos at the bleeding edge. Think of what tech is available when as what the truly average car company would consider as an option for their car.
>>16482481
turbos werent more common until the mid 70s
which is why 1974 is the default year
>>16482481
turbos are available by default at 74 >>16482502
But if you are playing campaign and research turbo tech up to 10 points you get them 10 years earlier. so 64. In the game you can have thing up to 15 points, so 15 years before.
I actually think this game is more suited to a tech tree kind of research but the devs don't think so...
>>16482560
yeah Id personally prefer a Civ style tech tree
fuck you if I do well enough to get EFI and turbos in 1950 I deserve it
just like how I have planes in the 1700s (but no electricity because the fuck)
>>16482612
It's even worse cause you have awful starting tires and brakes for the amount of power you easily get early game with no tech.
>>16482662
You pretty much have to put extra quality into tires and brakes early game to get lower profile tires.
>>16482495
>Basically, the game's meant to be a production car tycoon and ingame if you put a lot of tech into forced induction you'll be able to get turbos at the bleeding edge. Think of what tech is available when as what the truly average car company would consider as an option for their car.

>11. When will you raise the 12krpm Rev limit, Give access to 130 octane Avgas etc.
As Automation is a game focused on running a car company that builds road cars, and maybe a few touring car style race cars, those kind of technologies don't make sense to include.
We chose the 12krpm rev limit as it covers any production car ever made and then some, and because the way we get engine sounds produced starts to run into a lot of issues above 12,000rpm.
>those kind of technologies don't make sense to include.
Just fucking wow, what a bunch of lazy cunts. And they ask almost 30€ / 30$
>>16483201

Call it autism, but I love making my own brands in sandbox and like, comparing them to each other in the markets.
This one is like a Mustang GT, but reduced stroke on a 5.0 to a 4.6 for higher RPM and forged internals to have as much power as I can squeeze out of a pushrod V8. I tried to budget as much as possible.

>>16496268
>Fac shit is conf
Once you have your RnD set you have to get a fac plot small/med/large each costs more money but has higher production hours.
After that you can set the fac size 1,2,3. This is cheaper than buying a bigger plot of land but a small plot with a level 3 fac produces less than a med plot with level 1 fac.
You want cars per day and engines per day to match, never pay for more than 2 shifts because overtime/third shift is expensive AF.

headers and a swap out of the restricted airbox gets you into the 13.6 range and a pick up of 10 mph in the 1/4 at this point it would run 12s if it had traction
>>16511930
yup
the track done up with traction runs a 12.66 @ 115 mph
>>16512250
Would you buy this?
>>16511930
>2900 lbs
That's why you're getting those performance numbers. Camaro Z28s (67-69) were pretty damned quick for the time with mid-14 second 1/4 miles and they were ~3700 lbs.
Also:
>Needing 400+ cubic inches to make ~350 HP
pleb.
>>16512319
yeah its a performance car why would I weight it down with pigfat?
those Camaros weigh more about 33-3400 too
>needing
no I have a 356 and is honestly better in every category that makes 340hp and gets the exact same times but small block isnt muscle enough
there wasnt a single sub-400 CI V8 that made that much power back in the day
>inb4 gross ratings
>>16489076
That doesn't make them common
>>16478244
Looks like some sort of hybrid between a DSM and a catfish camaro
>>16511522
Considering they said engine designer is pretty much done and the car designer is easier, yes.
Out around March-May.
>>16511930
Guys, stop comparing in game cars to irl cars, especially old ones.
Cars in game are so much faster than irl cars.
>>16512830
That's only semi true. If you try chasing an IRL car with about the same power to weight ratio, you're prob not going to make it. Hypercars maybe but not shit like the ZR1 or ACR.
And don't run it on the TG test track even a fucking wrx clone can do it under 1:15.
>>16512830
350hp net and 2900lbs and runs the same as 335 gross that weighs 3400
If anything it should be faster
Anyone wanna trade me Automation for Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition? I also have Ford Street Racing and Bad Rats in my inventory.
http://steamcommunity.com/id/ImLiquid/
Painted beige for your pleasure.
>>16514249
You know you want one.
>>16513663
Cars in the game are faster top speed and 0-60 very often
>>16514924
Im gonna put my autism to the test and do a fantasy car vs real world car shoot out set in the 80s
cam you make an ute in this game?
>>16514945
there are a few bodies for it
I upped the weight on my car to simulate a (160-ish lb) driver since I dont think Automation does that
acceleration wise all seems fine even the price is about the same as the real cars
but goddamn the brakes and lateral grip are way too much on Automation imo
I know my car is a couple hundred pounds lighter than the next lightest car and has double wishbones but even on solid axle mcphersons it was too much imo
my car is on 195/60r15 (same as Daytona) medium compound

If you're not a downforce nut sure
I tried my hand at what an early-mid 00's Fiero could look like.
I had a hard time finding a body I liked, considering it has to actually be in line with the rounded stylings of the decade but be a mid engined car. (as well as the car itself having the morphing points nessecary to style it right)
and doing pop up lights on anything that isnt a flat-ish surface is a pain, but I think it came out ok, if a bit too big- though I used the Second Gen concept as a jumping off point and that seemed to be fairly large too
>>16515710
>>16515713
>>16515710
>>16515713
>>16515718
A little large for a Fiero but very interesting.
Where the hell is the UE4 port?
https://youtu.be/wPSjy8ONroA
They keep teasing it yet wont even release a beta
>>16515747
Modern cars got larger and fatter, so it works.
>>16515197
I'm confused. Do you send cars around tracks in this game or something or when you make a powerful car can you watch it accelerate or drive it? how do you even know how fast your in-game car is?
>>16515768
Devs are greedy and slow
>>16515862
>greedy
??
Getting the new build out and finishing the game quicker would mean more sales once it goes gold
its the best educational engine builder and car design program i know of
>>16515890
They aren't greedy.
But thats their problem. Even thought the 2 guys that started this quit their full time jobs and hired people. The german guy that does the videos was the first they hired.
They still run it like it's an hobby.
They go on vacations, work less hours on it that regular people do with they mundane jobs.
They add one thing, they remove the other.
They are slow has shit. This started in what? 2010? 6 years and still early access.
>>16490286
THOSE TAIL LIGHTS AGH MY EYES
>>16516317
I doubt it will ever be finished.
Ue4 port is taking up most of their time it seems also retarded it's gonna be released with no turbo's
>>16516461
Like the light campaign version was released with no Scenarios.
They go one step forward and one step back.
>>16516523
And removed multiplayer
Where's engine mods? Hopefully once ue4 port is out the community can help instead of this dogshit engine
>>16516566
>the community can help
Oh yeah. That was actually the only decent thing they did as devs.
Releasing the tuturials for modded bodies, lights, etc...
If they hadn't we would still have the same 30 bodies or something
>>16516616
They need to just open source it on ue4 because development has already stalled.
7 years later and the engine sandbox still isn't finished
>>16516626
how has it stalled when its still being updated
they arent focusing one one thing at a time
>>16518300
Because it's been 7 years and turbos don't work right
Because it's been ported to ue4 for the past 2 years and it still isn't out.
Because it's only 2 devs
>>16519916
There's actually like 5 devs, but not all of them can do coding
>>16521105
2 main devs
>>16478244
Just bought it on Monday. I love dicking around with X-Planes. Really disappointed it's only NA I3s for the moment.
I have a few gripes regarding fitting placement/configuration. But it's a great time killer.
>>16481691
So freaking confusing to know if I'm winning or not
>>16522659
Are you making money?
Yes, you are winning
No, you are losing.
Also, it's about score.
>>16522654
because their turbo coding is fucked
they havent even fixed it in the UE4 build :(
Bugs and low end appearance aside, i fucking love this game. In the 60-70's in campaign, with a v12 muscle doind work
Devs just released a new Update video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOtRWv0Mi4U
>>16523376
Yeah, and 'ts shit.
BTW, someone start a new thread. This one reached limit.
>>16478761
SAAB Sonnet?
>>16483997
>3000cc
>2.7L
I don't know about this game, anon.
>>16525841
That's what he named it, has nothing to do with the game.
>>16525841
Good to know that it's merely the user that is retarded. But I've been building engines for going on 15 years now, and I'm doing some calculations in my head thinking that these power numbers are often way out of spec. Does this game let you adjust things like valve lift and duration? I mean you could go full retard with some of the finer settings and get shit numbers, but I was just wondering.
>>16525953
Naw, not that in depth but you can adjust stuff like cam profile and AFR and ignition timing or whatnot.
