friend of mine says this has been parked there for years. About 10 years ago the guy that lives in the apartment above the one I live in bought a red Z31 from a guy a few doors down. I was too young to understand cars at the time. He ended up selling it to someone in Montreal after a couple years. He wants a last gen Celica now but can't really afford it from living off of disability and pension.

Almost bought a 1989 Nissan Stanza with Datsun badging on it last summer. Was owned by the auto shop teacher who had been a Nissan mechanic for 20 years or so. The kid that asked to buy it about 10 seconds before me ended up wrecking it shortly after.

the nissan generals never worked because it ends up being "Help me fix my sentra/altima general"
S chassis generals never work because who can count on someone who owns a 240sx anyways.
Datsun generals never work because who has one on this board.

I have a Z31 and ive never really gotten to talk about it on this lousy board.

I don't think a 300zx is risky. Z31s are bottom dollar right now and (good) Z32s are going up in price slowly. Can't really go wrong.

I honestly don't think this is a bubble. The absolute price of an R32 jumped by 10k USD because of US demand and I still see people buying at 20-30k.

If anything the high price of entry has meant that the R32 won't die out. Japanese owners are maintaining them as much as possible because they know that foreign buyers will pay through the nose for a clean, mostly stock one.
>>
>>16480205
cute
>>
>>16481713
It's a bubble and they will die back down. R33s are getting ready to flood in with better drivetrains and people are going to jump on them too. Then the R34s will become legal and there goes the neighborhood.
>>
>>16480760
I left the lug nuts on my car slightly loose because I was working on it, when I fixed the problem a few days after, my tire came off, rubbed my chassis harness, shorted out everything. (You should've seen it. Wipers horn, starter were all going off) my headlights caught fire which led to air filter. Luckily a neighbor handed me an extinguisher..

The R33 doesn't have nearly as much meme tax though. If you look at pricing generally speaking the R32 and R33 are comparable despite huge differences in production numbers.
>>

Once 2020 comes around the Z31 will be hard to come by.
My Z31 is an 87 Slicktop, not an easy find.
Now that its 30 its a true antique.
Value will only go up.

Imported nissans will hold their value and 90s nissan will also hold their value, those are cars that cannot be compared to anything.

If you don't need to make big changes use Nistune. Especially if it is a street car. Aftermarket ECUs tend to not have everything that a stock ECU has, especially any car with OBD2.

Skylines are no longer daily drivers. The vast majority of them have been skidded into curbs and abused by 17 year olds that thought they were a cool first car.

Feel free to do the same but don't get butthurt when you discover it's an unreliable piece of shit.

It is getting incredibly hard to find clean Skyline GT-Rs these days.

Really though it's a good thing that the US has driven prices up. Keeps retarded teenagers with daddy's money from skidding them into trees and neglecting them in general.

The real issue now is whether Nissan has any interest in continuing to support the Skyline GT-R. With the rise in US demand there's a lot of interest in parts to keep these things running.

You're paying for the nostalgia factor and the part's rarity rather than the actual performance you'll get. With modern shit you can do MUCH better for much less but you won't get the same 'muh JayDeeUhms' cred.

For that price, you could get more than decent intake and exhaust manifolds (or have them fab'd for you in case there are no off the shelf items), a brand new turbo that you know is gonna last, new injectors and a standalone ECU. As an added plus, you wouldn't have to go through the hassle of tuning a turbo/carburated engine.

I'm sure it's fine if you don't have huge power goals. I wouldn't waste time swapping one into anything. If your car came with one, there is nothing wrong with it really.

>You guys say they're wet noodle pieces of shit
I don't know what to believe anymore.
>>
>>16487969
Because when /o/ talks about them, it's always the USDM ones with a shitty truck motor and previous owners like to ruin the handling through lowering or cut springs. The Japanese market ones are better
>>
>>16488002
But the chassis is the same.
>>
>>16488015
So? Doesn't mean a shitty KA24 USDM S13 is the same as a CA18DE JDM TYTE S13, plus the US market has a slow heavy motor

I never said that you fucking moron. I asked if the S13 was a good chassis for handling or if it was floppy like /o/ says. Literally nowhere did I say anything about JDM vs. US, suspension, engines, or ANYTHING.
>>
>>16488080
>>16488124
dont compare a ralliart to an evo and say its the same as a 240sx and 180sx
they are both s13s just with different engine options

both are shit btw
just because jap spec doesnt make it any better, still a floppy piece of shit with cheese brakes
>>
>>16488132
It's a good chassis if you add strut braces or a reinforced subframe like an E36
>>
>>16488015
They are not. The USDM chassis has a longer frame rail on one side. It is actually stronger. The 5mph USDM bumper supports also add some structural rigidity.

/o/ is just full of bench racers who don't know what they are talking about at all.
>>
>>16488158

Any Z31 owners in the thread got tips for me? Anything I should look out for?

>Because when /o/ talks about them, it's always the USDM ones with a shitty truck motor

>/o/ can't stop jerking off to Miatas
>/o/ buys into the now 20 year old, Super Street-originated "hurr durr truck motor" meme

it makes 155hp/160tq and weighs less than 3000 pounds. It's a fun car even in north american OE trim.

These cars get a bad reputation because of drifting and inexperienced owners. a well maintained 240SX is a capable and fun sports car, and anyone who says differently has never driven one or is just looking for an internet argument.
>>
>>16491001

rust. look for rust. everywhere. pull up the trunk carpet, get underneath it with a flashlight, up in the wheel wells, the seams where the wheel wells connect to the unibody in the rear, look at the frame rails

beware undercoating and spray paint on the underbody, these are signs the seller is concealing the rust.

find the rust.

Everything is finite. Chill out with the weed tonight anon.

It recently occurred to me that cars are made of steel, and steel is made of earth. So I'm potentially driving little bits of fields and shit. And since my cars are made in Japan, the earth they were made from are probably either from there or from mother Russia herself. Feels good dude.
>>
>>16491310
Ha. I noticed that too. Of all things, a non-cracked dash in that pile of rust. That's wort a couple bucks alone.
>>
>>16487969
>>16491261
they handle very good, if you lower it get supporting parts to fix castor since it'll have less than factory and it fucks with turn-in and drifting.

i personally dislike it, factory ride height is rally status, stocke brakes are a joke, trans is meh, it feels slow (it's decently quick, just feels slower than it is), drift tax (it's avoidable but annoying), s14's look like trash from the back, the factory lsd is a pile of garbage non rebuild able vlsd with no factory clutch lsd (don't buy a kaaz, doen't last too long, supposed to change diff oil every 5k miles, get an OS lsd 100k maintenance interval)
most parts are cheap, if you can google it's simple to fix stupid things, it's reliable if you don't halfass it together, JWT mail in tunes are garbage go nistune instead, and s14's commonly crack the passenger side of the tank, it's non-patchable plastic and crazy shaped so no shoving a fuel cell in it's place

>>16491338
