Alright /o/, I need your expertise and opinions. I have a small budget of $15,000 for a weekend car. It wouldn't be my daily driver. Just something to have to go out on my free days. Keep in mind I go to school full time and work full time, but my school finances are separate from this. So it won't affect me financially. Meaning, I won't be struggling to maintain the car. Especially since I know these cars can be costly. After some time, I came to likely these two.

Would I be stupid to buy one over the other or does it matter? What can you guys tell me about these models? Is there one that cost more to maintain? Any advice would help.

The pictures are the cars, but not pictures of them.

>850i
Anon you don't want that anemic piece of shit unless it comes with the 6speed

And I know yours doesn't because it's affordable

Satin trips
That was one reason I was leaning on the Bmw.

The Porsche is going to be easier to insure. Parts for the M70/M73 are hard to find. It took me 3 months to get a new lower oil pan from Germany for my '01 750il.

If you can find an 850Ci/CSI for about 12-13K, that's more likely to be collectable.

Dubs
I knew this one was one of the lower end models.

Don't both with an 850i unless it's a manual. Why are you buying from a dealer? They know nothing about history of the car. You want to buy from someone that has driven it several years at least and has maintenance records.

No, the 850i isn't low end. The Ci/CSi are more special snowflakes.

If you're not set on a V12, there are a couple 840Ci's in the bay area for a decent price.

The N73 (03 - 08 760) is easier to insure because it's newer.

Again, the problem with the M70/M73 is the availability of parts. Allstate wouldn't insure my 750, with a perfect driving record. To them, if it gets in one accident it's totaled.

At least, that's how it was explained to me...

Also, if it passes a dealer inspection (expect it to be about $500) I'd offer $7500 cash for this.

Seems this exceeded in quality in both of my options.

Would you mind linking me if you have any sources. I wasn't able to find any under 100,000 miles.
>>

You don't really want a bangle 7. There's a reason they have depreciated so bad.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=624978

It's a V12 car so it also eats front suspension and tires and brakes because it's so front-heavy.
>>
>>16467804
Wouldn't the 850i do the same? The 1991 model is know for being a heavy car.
>>
>>16467800
>I wasn't able to find any under 100,000 miles.
Missed the 100K mile requirement. My bad.

>>16467804
That's that the PPI is for. Though the V12 isn't
> Front heavy
No, not really...

760i: 51.6/48.4
760Li: 51.0/49.0

It's just the nature of the beast. depending on how long you keep it you might have to do it one extra time over the v8 car. If you can wrench yourself it's not really a big deal.
>>
>>16467659
get the bimmer, keep it clean and it will hold value. just know maintenance will rape you
>>
>>16467871
Can't be as bad as an old British sportcar. It's just for the weekends, not a DD.
>>
>>16467659
boxster will be more fun unless you're planning on long cruises with no mountains nearby
>>
>>16468340
I was just going to mention that no one has brought up the Boxster. Any advicevent on Boxster care. I know about the IMS problem that it has. Any know about how much on average it is to fix?

I normally hang out at beaches. That's why I thought it'd be a good choice too.
