Gen II SBC's do sound really good; classic NASCAR exhaust noise

BUT, the LS1 is VASTLY improved. it is not even comparable. The LS1 is endlessly better

if ALL you care about is sound, the LT1 does sound better. IMO (i have had both)

the LS1 has way better response, acceleration, more torque, more top end, better at higher RPM. sounds better past 5000 rpm. even gets better mpgs

not to mention the after market support of the LS V8 compared to the dwindling support of the Gen 2 LT1

if I were building a gen 2 SBC it would be a 3rd gen with fbody a carb setup

I'm not a huge mustang fan, it just makes a lot of sense at it's price point. Hard to beat the combination of speed, reliability and ease of maintenance for the money.

With my only major mod being a Brembo BBK from a Shelby GT500 I'm able to track it confidently on a decent set of summer tires.

I have one. It's great. I bought mine for $9900 back in early 2015 with 93k miles. I have all the service logs for it too and everything. I could've gotten it for $200 less but I told the owner if he through in the wheels I would give me $9900.


I've had ZERO problems with it except a $60 throttle positioning sensor go bad on me. Drives great and rides great. I've got 111k on it right now and I've done a full exhaust with long tubes, cams and intake. All of this was only a little less than $1800 and it bumped me up from 271rwhp to 337rwhp on 87 octane pump gas.

Block may be able to handle 1000hp(I don't know to be honest), but once you get near 500rwhp, you're getting ready to blow the motor if you don't upgrade the internals. Most guys stay at 450rwhp with a supercharger/turbocharger setup if they want to make sure the motor wont give up. So claiming a 1000hp capability from the block doesn't really do much for anyones argument.
