I just go 57mph all the time in a 76mph truck. When I come up on an oversize or a 55mph slowpoke I give it some gas up to the speed limit, get about 5 truck lengths between us, get over, and let the cruise do its job. All the 61.5 and 61.7mph cucks scoot right along by me without incident and the 75mph billy big riggers fly on by me. Only time I stick to the speed limit is on surface steets and 2 lane highways.

I ran OTR, DG, RR Donnelley, and walmart TCU all for about 3-12 weeks each before getting onto Budweiser dedicated for about a year and a half. It was mostly turn and burn and averaged 400-700 miles each way starting at 32cpm empty or loaded, and I ended up around 36cpm. Things slowed down in winter, but they'd keep us busy shuffling around pallets and trailers for other accounts at our regular rate which was higher than most of those accounts. The hours were weird, and the loads going out were always hot, especially in winter since we were hauling liquid in a dry van, but the DM was actually pretty decent and worked onsite at the St Louis brewery, so we didn't spend a ton of time running after trailers that weren't there or being assigned red tagged trailers.

DG has been saying they're switching to carts for at least 5 years to trick drivers into signing on. Floor loading can get you in great shape, but the accessory pay they offer for it doesn't break even with time you could spend driving for the first few months. Dropping trip paks right in the office helped get payroll straight, so at least you'd get paid on time. I'm from this area but I don't go into SF that often. I was doing this delivery of a pallet of cardboard packing boxes today and I came to a red light right at the crest of this really steep hill. When it was time to go my 20+ ft truck had a slow start and as the cab went over the hill I felt my drives starting to slip. My truck started to roll backwards so I put my brakes and locked the differentials. Thank god that did the trick because I didn't want to explain to my boss I had to call a tow truck for a pallet of fucking cardboard boxes. I can't imagine what would have happened if I had a truckload of cement/blocks/pavers instead..

Took me 10 minutes to turn around in the lot and get out onto Pine though. I don't pull all the way up to red lights or stop signs, I just drive 2-3mph and time it to roll through. Gave my two weeks notice to the company I currently work for today.

Going to be working on a hot oiler, which is a straight truck with a 5000 psi pump and burner setup that they use to either heat up tanks of water to prevent freezing during the winter, or to pump hot water/oil into wells to melt natural wax deposits that gum up wellbores and prevent wells from producing.

The job and pay grade I have now, with the way the oil and gas industry is since the recession hit in 2014, I am on track to make around 70-80k CAD this year. This is down from around 120-130k a year as a supervisor at another well servicing company before all the layoffs hit.

How you install them depends on what type you get. "Triples" go over both drive tires, assuming you don't have super singles, and "singles" fit over the outside drive tire only.

Triples give better traction, but are more work to install.

If you get a set of triples, the biggest thing is to get the centre link that goes between the duals as tight as reasonably possible, since it is the link that keeps the chain from sliding off the tires.

This video shows how to put a set of singles on. I would imagine super single chains are the exact same but with wider cross links.

Biggest thing with either style of chain is to get them tight. If they're too loose, they will slap against the fender over top of the drive tires and dent them, the chain can fall off entirely, or worse, can wrap around the axle and tear off brake/suspension components. Bad times.

Triples refers to how many rails there are on the chain; one that goes in between the two duals, and two that go on the outsides of each tire.

Why it isn't a called a double, referring to how many tires it will cover, is beyond me.

Yeah, sometimes. When its really shitty in the bush, you need one be able to steer, otherwise the front end will just plow in one direction due to the steers not being able to grab any traction.
