Every time you post that pic I remind myself I need to buy a front lip. Car too low though gotta raise it. I'd destroy it on those steep inclines.

What lip style though?

Yeah they got it on eBay paired with a rear lip for just over $50.

Spoon style looks good too. I can't be as low as these pics though. I'd destroy it just getting into the parking lot at work.

I'd assume it's a bit different with civics since there's a better aftermarket for them, but with 3rd gen preludes there are a number of front/rear lip options that are interchangeable between different cars, albeit with some minor to moderate modifications. volvo 740, 94-95 accord, first gen integra.. have you looked into something like that?

here's mine with a 1994 accord lip before I trimmed the sides.

Waiting on Ground Controls in the mail so I can raise it a bit. Then I need to do some work to the rear brakes. Not too sure after that. Maybe see about getting some body work done. I wanna get the body straight first though, if that's even possible.

I finally got my Head Gasket on. Only thing I got left is to put my cam seals. I bought some OEM seals but they don't fit. Hey guys, I'm looking at replacing a 2001 Honda civic motor does anyone know if its easy to do? I've never replaced an engine and was wondering if it was worth the effort.
>>
>>16449825
If it's your first time I recommend getting some help from someone who's done it before. Having an engine lift/cradle is a must. Should take about a day if you start in the morning and have all the parts and tools.
>>
>>16449838
Yeah not worth doing unless you know somebody.

>26F with RealFeel of 17F

>>
>>16449825
not too hard as long as you understand the big picture of the removal process:

-drain fluids
-remove the front clip or subframe i guess depending on which is easier for your car
-remove the wiring harness
-remove clutch line, shifter cables
-disconnect a/c line
-pull the axles
-remove the mounts
-hook it up to a hoist and yank it out (or drop the motor with a jack)
-swap the accessories and transmission over to the new one just do it all in reverse to install

probably forgetting some stuff, but that's basically it. not much to it if you have the tools and the space.

Gonna change my axels on my EF. I've never done anything on a transmission but mine makes a sort of whine when trying to go in first or second and it's kinda hard to get it but i can feel it grab the gears teeth after a few seconds of extra pressure. From what i found the clutch might be wearing out so I figured if all the stuff is already going to be disassembled then maybe I could change the clutch, is it a heard job for a noob?
>>
>>16453823
Which EF are you? Don't have experience with tranny stuff though, sorry.
>>
>>16453823
Axles won't need the transmission messed with really. You'll just be popping the old axles out of the trans with a pry bar then popping the new ones in by hand.

Clutch is a whole different job on its own. The transmission weighs around 75 pounds so you'll need either a jack or a lift to get it out unless you wanna lift it yourself. Aside from that it can be done with basic tools. Never done it myself but for jobs like that I always find somebody to help me with it.

I've removed 2 of my motors back and forth within the last month. Original motor that was in my car had a head gasket that was leaking exhaust into the cooling system. Have an extra block, complete with new head gasket. Take it out, Throw it into the car, transfer everything over. It won't start. check fuel, spark, compression. 60Psi Cylinder 2. Pour oil try again, 120. take motor out, Replace head gasket on the one that was leaking exhaust fumes. Take head off, Jesus christ, fucking chips/burrs on the sleeves. No cracks better the cylinder walls, fuck it. Clean it all up. threw the new HG on. That shit bitter seal it!

They rust at the back hatch, wheel wells and at the windshield.
>>
>>16455423
That sounds pretty quick. I just need to go get an engine lift to be able to swap the engine. I'm going to have to do it myself since no one wants to work on it. Do you have a manual or a list of torque spec's for all the bolts, that's pretty much all I need.
>>
>>16455484
til the bolts going into the mounts on the frame wont turn with a breaker bar and the ones on the mount to the engine quarter to half turn after snug. really after you take the harness off at the shocktowers you just bolt a chain to the tranny bracket and the alternator, then unbot the mounts and pull it up.

If you're getting oil on your plugs and you're sure the valve cover gasket is seated properly then yes it's the rocker arm gaskets. Valve clearances should at the very least be checked and the adjustment nuts torqued, you only need to adjust clearance if it need's adjusting.

check that the starter is bolted tight to the block, if it's loose it could be causing the problem due to being poorly grounded.

So, this might be a cuck question. But can I fit two rear facing car seats in the back of a civic and still drive comfortably? How about an accord? Will these things still last forever with a stick, I've been hearing some reliability hits.

Finally figured out why my 91 Prelude's fans weren't working. Fan timer control thing fried. There's one exact one on eBay for $60 but a few 4th gen Prelude versions that looks similar for $20. Anyone know if they'll work on my car?
>>
Sup /hg/
Red/black 2000 prelude guy here, just drove 230 miles to move into an apartment for school.
At mile 228 the back lighting on my dash and my tail lights went out. Brake lights were still going, and other lights in the interior worked fine, like turn signal/handbrake lights.

I'm assuming a fuse blew but I haven't actually checked yet because it's cold and I'm exhausted.
Anyone got any other ideas to what it might be? Or anything else I should check tomorrow. I know basically nothing about the electrical system of this car, other than whats in the manual.
>>
>>16466786
Yeah just like in my Civic, a fuse is shared for the tail lights and the gauge cluster. Most likely blown.
>>
>>16466948
Ok god, that's what I was hoping it was.
Thanks Shingu.
>>
>>16467061
No problem. I went and tested it on my car and all of that did stop working. Hopefully it doesn't blow again. Most likely won't though.

>back when I drove my old auto Civic
>leave for delivery
>car just dies around the corner
>ECU fuse blew
>replace it and never blows again

Still don't know what could have caused that.
>>
>>16465745
8th gen accord is the biggest accord sedan you can buy.
9th gen civic sedan is the biggest civic sedan you can buy.
Bring a car seat and test it out at the dealer. Reliability on a Honda is best in a manual.
>>
>>16467077
I'm not really sure what caused it myself since I didn't see it happen really, just looked down and my dash was dark.

The only thing "strenuous" before that was a steep hill start were I didn't have time to do a handbrake start, so I rolled back a bit and had to catch it at slightly higher revs than I normally would.
>>
>>16467106
Yeah probably just a one time thing. I hate doing hill starts but there are very few hills here.

>>16467143

Hey guys, so my friend and I have been arguing and I need some third party input.
The other night while out on a cruise in my Integra GSR (stock everything) we happened across an Avenger R/T (don't think it was the 350 HP AWD variant, just the 260 HP FWD one) we raced him and as expected I pulled ahead on the turns, and he got me from a dig every time. But something really weird happened while we were running. I had put it in 4th gear at ~40 MPH and he pulled up next to me. he started accelerating and I started matching him, falling behind from the 45-60 mark due to being so far out of 4th's optimal powerband. When we started topping out, I actually pulled ahead and away from him.
My buddy swears the Integra is just that good, I'm pretty sure that the guy let off his gas around 90 MPH considering I topped out at 110, and we were on surface streets (non-highway) and I can easily see most people starting to get nervous around that mark (my theory is always half of racing is a fast car, half of racing is a driver willing to push the car).
What do ya'll think? Could my 175 HP Integra really pull away from an Avenger with 260 HP? I know it had an automatic transmission (could smell it burning when I was behind him). The only thing I can think of is he didn't turn off his Overdrive gear, would my weight really give me an advantage on a straight road like that?
sorry for long post.

The avenger probably weighs a lot more and the Integra has a healthy 175 HP, the Accord I drive is dramatically slower when I have fat ass passengers and the AC cranking.
>>
>>16468120
Okay, looking at it in depth (Avenger R/T actually only pushes 235HP/225TQ @ 3500 lbs, my Integra which weighs a comfy 2700 and some change with just my 135 lb ass sitting in it and then my buddy adds another 290 or so, it seems a bit more believable.
Just never expected to blow his doors off like that when Vtec hit. Literally lived a meme. Shit.
