Great uncle has a 1999 Acura TL he wants to sell with 60,000 miles on it. It's in good condition and I haven't made an offer yet. I'm looking for a cheap commuter. Is it worth checking out?

maybe if it's manual; the auto transmissions on these are notorious for being shit

Do you already have a car? Anything wrong with it?
They're as good as FWD gets but it's still FWD.
And like other anon said, the auto trans in these are shit, if it's an auto don't expect much out of it.

Automatic

None right now

how much is he asking?
Maybe the most boring car design in history but if you can get it for $3-4K it's prob worth it. With that low miles it's probably still got a good bunch of years ahead of it if he kept up w/maint.

I have a '99 myself
pros:
>discreet (If you like that)
>good power
>really roomy backseat
>bunch of luxury features (of the day)
cons:
>(now bear in mind my car has over twice as many miles) holy shit the trans is bad, they told me the 99 4sp wasn't as bad as the 00-03 5spd though, at least it wont completely quit. My own car flares excessively when shifting up and if I floor it it will downshift so hard it feels like I got rear ended, plus theres no replacement trans like the 5spd has so your stuck with a rebuild if it gets that bad to drive. Best solution is to drive in tiptronic and lift off the gas when you shift.
>It has stock Xenon headlights that are a huge pain to fix if anything goes wrong with them, my ballast is fucked but its around 1000 bucks to have a shop fix it.
Don't go over $4000 if its in good condition
