Favorite - very responsive and fun to drive on winding roads

Hated - Little crap breaks super easily. Mirror motors, the shitty plastic+vinyl shade under the moon roof, the motor for the moon roof itself, the rubber molding on the doors, the plastic panels on the exterior of the B pillars. None of this effects the car mechanically, it's just annoying.

1994 Pontiac Firebird Base, 3.4L V6

Whatever exhaust the previous owner put on this sounds great (until the HOLY FUCK 0.53 GR OVERDRIVE KICKS IN at 45mph and 65mph) and the rear tires look nice and get me a lot of attention and jokes.

Holy fuck this car sounds like ASS when the uber-overdrives kick in, and the torque just isn't there past 40mph.

Passenger side power locks can lock, but not unlock the car. Driver's side can unlock, but not lock. -.- Loose connection but I have other things to fix.
Trunk doesn't open.
Had brake calipers on the opposite sides (driver's side on passenger) and the pads were welded to the caliper when I got it.
Air Filter is a Cold Air Intake at the top of the engine bay, despite the car sucking up from the bottom (to my knowledge, as the radiator is down there with a small air dam).
Bought for $900, with paperwork for an engine rebuild at 176k (201,854 on it today).

Since I bought it in 2014 with 46k miles on it, it's needed 2 sets of front hubs, 3 front axle assemblies, new fuel evap parts. And I get it that that stuff goes bad, but the big thing is the issue with the head/exhaust valve seats. There was a known manufacturer defect where the valve seats warp/wear and requires the entire head to be replaced. Also had ABS issues and and a few random CELs.

Don't get me wrong though, it's still a nice truck and hasn't left me stranded anywhere.

Not that guy. My benz has the 5G box, never had to reset it, it feels like it's exactly where I'd like it to be. Holds gears if I just want to speed up a little, drops gears if I want to haul ass, changes pretty nicely when I'm just cruising. My only gripe is that when I finish coming up a steep hill, it takes a few moments to figure out that the lower gear isn't needed anymore, but that's easily fixed with a tap of the gearstick.
>>
>>16415667
What is a speed bell? Just tried to google it, with 0 results coming up. Does it ring once you reach a certain speed, as like an auditory aid to not pass that speed or something?

repair places only ever want to use infiniti made parts because "MUH LUXURY CAR" even though it really isnt luxury anymore. that means it can get expensive

i'd do it myself, but i have zero knowledge on most of this stuff, although i'd love to learn if pointed towards a good learning source.

i'll look into that though, i need my front lights replaced since they're supposedly getting cloudy due to microcracks in the plastic.
>>
>>16422698
Also, I didn't really mean the engine was expensive, I meant the body is expensive. I haven't needed any engine work done, it's just minor issues with headlights or interiors that would be expensive to replace or fix for some dumb reason.

Honestly? The factory wheels that were on it were dreadful, and it already has a ton of black trim from factory. So I followed the trend all the way around the car. Every time I look at it, I see exactly what I want. Luxury, power, and the impression that the owner must be an asshole.

>>16422845
A few years ago, that was still valid. Today you can find most aftermarket support around the same price range as Honda shitvics. Having owned a few G Coupes, we naturally replaced some things. I've seen a VQ hit 335k miles on what looks to be original engine and transmission, still drives strong
>>
>>16423494
Engine hasn't ever been an issue. VQ35 is good and has lasted me a while without problems (other than belts, which are very cheap and easy to replace).

The issue has just been exterior ware and tear. Headlights fogging from microcracks, leather showing dirt more readily as cracks get deeper and hold more shit that's harder to clean out, etc.

It runs great, but replacing stuff to make it LOOK new would be expensive.
>>
>>16423494
>Luxury, power, and the impression that the owner must be an asshole.

Its nice when somone recognises the effort and passion that goes into what most people just see as a shit car
