I didnt see a general car buy thread, but I wanted to ask.
Is there anyway for me to get a decent used car with $1500. Its all I have. Im job hunting right now and my engine blew out so Im screwed. Is $1500 enough or should I beg my parents for another $500 and Ill probably have to wait 3 or 4 months before they give it to me.

You could get a foxbody or 3rd gen camaro/firebird for cheap and fix it up. My buddy got an 87 firebird for $200, threw a battery in it, and drove it for several years. He also painted it and did some basic engine mods, but there are deals out there.

I bought a 90 camaro for $400, and swapped out the v6 for a junkyard 350, and junkyard 700r4 transmission for less than $1200 total.

Was actually a fun car, v6 exhaust was so quiet it was kind of a sleeper. My 83 z28 is loud as fuck with a cam and full exhaust.
