Surprisingly they are. It improves airflow in warm weather so it keep swamp-ass away. It also helps distribute your weight so you don't get pressure points on your bones. It makes the seat a lot more slippery so shifting you weight is easier. Finally it gives you a butt massage as you shift you weight.

To be honest, however, I went with beads because they were the cheapest option to improve seat comfort.

Got a question /dbt/, I need to get a new set of tires for the start of the next riding season; do I get the cheap and dirty set because it's a meme shitbike or do I burn the extra ~$150 an get a good set of bi-compound meme tires to complete the meme bike?
>>
>>16407776
>everything from daily commuting to track days?

No such thing anon, you'll have to either compromise on either longevity or grip. The key is how fast you can ride.

PP3s are okay if you're just getting started riding fast.

Yea I had Rosso's last season and they did not hold up well

>>16408028
That's why i'm thinking the PP3's, they seem a good compromise between gotta go fast and riding in cold/wet/poor conditions, obviously won't last as long as PR's but buying two sets of tires a year isn't going to kill me.

At least the gas tank looks like it's in decent condition although I don't know what happened to the Suzuki lettering that is supposed to be on it.

Also I am pretty sure that exhaust is off a different bike.

>>
>>16408190
That is pretty cool. How come the torque is so low? I am guessing the superchargers affect the torque curve in a manner where top end is prioritized over low-end 'torque'.

Anyways, they are out of business because supercharging these bikes is retarded. A chink turbo for $150 works just as well on these completely overbuilt motors
>>
Is it bad for power if I just chop the mufflers off the pipes? 750 i4
>>
>>16408233
why don't you try it?
>>
>>16408220
the centrifugal superchargers build boost directly proportional to engine rpm, so you usually just get a steeper power curve, and peak boost isn't achieved until near redline. most bikes make peak torque a few thousand rpm below peak horsepower so the bike isn't making full boost at the torque peak, but it is making full boost at peak horsepower

keep in mind those are wheel horsepower and torque numbers

It's a complicated issue, tbqh.

On one hand, it's undeniable that you'll be running leaner than normal if you chop the muffler and you should really use a PC and a dyno to tune your bike correctly

On the other, who gives a shit. The A/F ratio is only trivially affected in the grand scheme of things. Don't chop the muffler, just take off the stock exhaust can

S21R has a magic front tyre and a triple compound rear that wears just beautifully with mixed usage.

supercorsas are glorified slicks, I have Q3s and they're terrible in the rain as well that's why I'm not recommending them even though they're amazing in the dry, cheap and get decent enough mileage.

Maybe that is where the difference is when comparing them to Pilot power 3's comes from, I know those tyres perform very well in the rain as well as being close to as good as 50% racing tyres in the dry.

I'm a pretty novice rider and am looking to buy a new bike. I've spent more time working my bike than riding it ('82 Yamaha Seca 650). I like the stye so I was looking at the Moto Guzzi V7 Stone. The two-valve 750 guzzi's make, like, 40HP.

Besides the cost factor are there any issues with leading link front suspension?

From what can gather telescoping front forks were cheaper and became more fashionable, leading to the death of leading link. Performance wise they seemed pretty good from what I read.

Am i too small for the bike? I can reach the ground with both feet more than toes but less than flat foot. My weight feels like i can't properly man handle the bike around techincal stuff. It feels like it carries too much momentum and i can't really do much to change it. I want to be able to hop it off boulders, ride narrow gaps, and climb up big rocks. Trials type shit. The bike is big and i'm small. It's not made for trials of course. Am i just being dumb?

I only get about a month and a half on a rear tire only riding one day a week on the street. I must be doing it wrong.

That being said, I've tried pretty much everything I've seen mentioned here except for the Pirellis ( I'm not that baller and I go through about 6-8 rears and 3-4 fronts a year, it adds up )

Give the Metzler M7rr a try, I get about an extra 150 miles ( baseline for me is 1500 miles ) out of a rear than the Q3, PPs and S-xx tires. I like the fact that the front is a single compound tire. A harder compound in the center just means I wear them into a triangle shape quicker, and then the bike falls into corners real quick and tends to stay leaned over too much.

I've had them break loose on occasion and they let you know and come back very well.

I'm tired of supersport bullshit, I just want a torquey commuter that is capable & comfortable for longer rides to find dank twisties every so often. I was initially set on the larger bandit, but desu that extra power is not necessary and you just end up paying more fuel, tires, and chains.

Yes, it's bad for scavenging lower in the rev range

The extra back pressure actually helps smaller volumes of exhaust gases flow more efficiently. You'll gain maybe 5 top end HP at the loss of your low end and some of your midrange depending on the remaining pipes.

It's kind of the same deal for drilling airboxes and chopping snorkels. Worth +/- a couple HP at varying spots in the rev range. If you really want more HP get a supercharger, then freer flowing headers, cats, etc, and tune.

Just flush your coolant. A properly maintained water cooled engine should never corrode, and should last longer than an air cooled equivalent.

you can exchange shims online. since valve adjustments are normally a winter downtime procedure the shipping wait is not a big deal.

They're all very rideable in the typical 4k-6k commuting range compared to a supersport that chugs along. Manufacturers tune for the bike's intended market, who woulda guessed, wow

wait lol is that meant to be a achievement?

that's just normal, I'd be worried if a bike didn't make 48k kms with no major issues.

Nigga I have an FZ8 and it is the perfect commuting motorcycle. The power is strong from 5k upwards. The FZ1 is almost identical to mine except it isnt underbored. It will be even better for touring given the bikini fairing.

and valve intervals are every 28 fucking thousand miles and thats even if they're out of spec. Are you really going to fucking complain about this shit you monkey? Why would you pick an old shitheap suzuki when you can pick up a later model, fuel injected, fz1 for pretty decent price?
>>
>>16410114
30k mi isn't even normal, it's sub-normal.

wear items excluded, most bikes as a whole should make it to 75k+, bearings might not even start to go out until around 100k, and an engine that has been treated well should be able to roll over the odometer a few times

I love the look of the V7 and all the reviews confirm that it's a great starter bike with forgiving road manners. That said, get a 5 year old jap twin (cb500 etc) for the same experience for half the price. And twice the reliability, moto guzzis require tinkering and endless updates/recalls/fixes.

Some anon suggested I go for FZ600 pipes for my upcoming YX600 Radian. Will I need to dig and find 1986-9 pipes, or will a 2000s bike do fine?
Keep in mind the 2000s FZ6 is liquid cooled.

I've never done an exhaust swap before. I honestly don't even know where to start. I don't know where to bolt stuff onto the frame, I don't know anything at all.

And when I get the bike in March-June, I'd kind of like to do the 4 into 1 right away. If anyone has any resources on how to do an exhaust swap for bikes in general, that'd be spiffy. But anything for the Radian specifically would be gold.
The Radian fan site is straight from 1995, and that's terrifying.

I found a 2005 FZ600 exhaust on ebay. But I have no idea on whether it's interchangeable with a Radian or the earlier FZ.

The foreigners in these videos are insane.

Why do people say Americans are bad mannered? The odd "fuck you" out the window is like a "sorry sir, i may have offended you" compared to some of these rants.
>>
>>16410343
>>rides around with hi beam on permanently
at night everyone should do this. some do it no matter what, even daytime so cagers notice you better.
>>
>>16410351
Stock motorcycle high beams are dimmer than the low beams on most new cars anyways
>>
>>16410359
that's why i dont have a problem with it if it's angled correctly. a badly angled bi xenon projector can be dangerous to cars
>>
>>16410225
You will want to go for air cooled. That engine is essentially the same as yours. Even then, expect to do some bending and fitting...

enjoy representing motorcycles badly
enjoy cagers moving to prevent you filtering

Adjusting your hi beam down so it's "angled correctly" is even worse, because then it's not available when you need it at night. One point of light is hard to judge, it doesn't matter if it's bright or not. The only way to increase night visibility is to change the light shape that your bike presents, pic related.

Depends
Did you piss me off?
If so, rev.
Do I need to make sure you see me because it's dark out and I saw you pull out of your driveway, or into an intersection with a stop sign?
If yes, or any other similar time, a small toot of the horn. And as I ride by, I'll wave.

So what level of fabrication are we talking about? Because I have no welding experience. Or any level of fabrication outside of bending and shaping plastic for warhammer minis. I also lack fabrication tools.

Everyone wants to be the edgy teenager, but 14 years of riding has shown it to be a poor gamble.

That said, I do have a pair of Yoshi 4's and a Stebel Nautilus on my TL, but I'd rather be pissed off for 2 minutes than be either a statistic when the cager panics at the ghost horn or I get my shit pushed in.
