Is fuel injector cleaner snake oil? I bought some lucas since it was on sale and Ive been using one treatments worth about every 1,000 miles the past 3,000 miles.
Does it do anything noticeable?
Will it actually make a difference in engine wear, mpgs and injector life?
Which brand is best?
Should OP just hang himself?
lucas is shit
the best one is techron by chevron
bobistheoilguy.com has crazy people who test almost all known oils/additives with their own money and then argue about it

So I should just finish off this lucas shit and switch to that?
>>16407561
No. You should stop using any and all addatives
>>16407569
Why
>>16407941
Because you can just get Top Tier gasoline which has a lot more cleaning additives in it. See the archived thread on Top Tier gasoline:

Costo's Kirkland Signature™ Gasoline contains five times the EPA detergent requirement in both regular unleaded and premium grades.

Lucas is a decent upper cylinder lubricant but not great at removing carbon
After heavy autism on bobistheoilguy forums and testing I've deemed there isn't much point in using any of these besides buying a 4L jug of Walmart supertech TCW-3 / 2 stroke ashless oil and putting 2oz in with a tank of fuel.
The tcw-3 oil burns clean so it doesn't fuck up your cats, has cleaning additives, lubricates your fuel system and pump so your engine is slightly quieter, and costs like fucking 10 bux for a jug that'll last a year.

Damn that's surprising, their gas is usually 10 cents cheaper per litre as well
Damn shame the closest Costco with a gas station is like 30 minutes away. Hopefully the new one they're building will have a gas station

Even the owner's manual of my new Direct Injection Kia states that if you don't use toptier gasoline with additives, you only should use factory fuel cleaner every 15k.
Just stop buying shit gas.

t. never owned a truck
>>16410158
>muh carb
trucks nowadays may as well be cars senpai
>>16410169
nah
more like, some trucks explicitly recommend cheap (87 octane) gas
>>16410176
There is nothing wrong with 87 octane retard. The difference is "top tier" gas contains detergents, regardless of grade. The shit at your 7-11 may not. Shit, my Kia takes 87 and the owner's manual literally says "top tier."

Read up dummy.
