Collecting cash to buy drugs. Social welfare here pays for a lot of stuff. Our liberal state still has a lot of money and many homeless dress more fashionably than I do. It's a bit irritating. Here, "Homeless" doesn't mean they don't have a place to live but more like they are either not a home owner or renting an apartment that is fully paid out of their own pocket. Many homeless have subsidized housing here and there are large tracts of super cheap cookiecutter apartments built for them just to keep the costs down. Woe be to you if your house is near one of those tracts though as the crime rate soars.

As for gas station, some homeless youths are bold and go right up to your car and try the doors. They never talk to you. I had one simply try to reach into my pocket before. My real wallet is in the inside zipped pocket of my jacket so no snatching that. Chances are they are unlocked since you are there. They snatch something and run off. The police worked with some stations that could physically protect the property. Those stations planted low-rise scratchy hedgelike plants densely. It doesn't block much visibility from the road but stops them from walking in off the public sidewalk to the cars.

I get my top tier gas at Costco. Those stations are safely inside the property so no chance of homeless loitering nearby. Once in a while, a car will get stolen from gas stations. You really have to lock your car even though you are next to the car fueling it.

As a result, many parts of the usa have problems with criminals. Conservative states punish and persecute criminals much more than liberal states. As a result, criminals tend to migrate and live in the liberal states thus causing a greater homeless problem. Furthering the problem are immigrant refugees whose purpose is to move to countries that have strong social welfare programs. That's why so few refugees apply to countries that have no real social welfare and free medical care. For example, when Greenville prison in the Carolina state releases prisoners, some get bused over to our state. Thus they dump their problems on us. Our state is unable to do a Brexit to protect its borders.

In the end, the destination state gets inundated with expensive freeloaders. The crime rate rises and the area gets dragged down. The shithole program is accelerated as homeless females continue to get pregnant and have babies even while homeless. The birthrate of the non-productive citizens is many times higher than that of the productive citizens. The birthrate is obviously fueled by the huge amounts of social welfare funds AND services. But reducing social welfare to reduce the problem creates social hardship so decade after decade, people keep pouring gasoline onto the fire. The bandaid cure only makes the problem grow bigger. Once the non-productive citizens gain the majority vote (and they will), the entire country will spiral down like Detroit and other cities where they gained controlling votes.

The amount of social welfare is huge. It's only when they buy drugs do many of them end up homeless since they can't pay the token fee needed for subsidized housing. Our state's system tries hard to rehabilitate and train people. They get paid a small amount as they do their studies or training and they take some of that money to pay their token amount for subsidized housing. In theory, they then have money left over for incidental things that the social welfare debit card doesn't pay for.

Because those members-only gas stations are located on the warehouse club property far from public sidewalks, the chance of being confronted by homeless is usually zero.

No medication can just create energy out of nothing and make you fatter. Calories is energy, fat is batteries created by your body to store energy. Your base metabolic rate at that height and weight should have you consuming more than 2500 a day if you just lied there in bed and didn't move for 24 hours. You'd burn it just by existing. I know because I was 6'3" and 400lbs a year and a half ago. If you have a job and walk around at least a bit, you'd burn even more. No medication on earth could change the amount of calories you get from food and magically make you fat. What it can do is make you a depressed pile of shit who sits around all day doing nothing but eating.

The immigration problem has grown to the point where the thieves even look for victims at gas stations. Successful immigrants displace less successful citizens. While success is good, the downside is the increase in homelessness.

Basically any place that you stop at and are unable to run away is a chance to be approached. So far, I've gotten approached inside a gas station convenience store, big store parking lots, public parks, downtown, football stadium parking, baseball stadium parking, supermarket parking lots, outside gas stations, inside indoor mall, international district parking, public library branches (yes, multiple branches in different areas), university district, AND at ATM machines - Not mugged (yet), but approached for cash. Maybe part of the problem is that I don't dress in ratty clothing?

Instead of standing on street corners where they get ignored, the more aggressive homeless (and scammers & muggers) look for places where the person cannot ignore or run off. At the ATM you can't run off because the machine is active and your card is in there. At the gas station, your car is there.

At the store parking lot, you got out of your car and you know you have to hand out some cash or else your defenseless car is out there all alone with the angry people you refused to give $5 to $10 to. The minimum seems to be $5 which still gets disdain. It seems that $20 is where they are pleased.

I used to get my gas at Arco due to convenience. But it's near homeless services and charity centers, so there are lots of homeless in the whole downtown area. So now I get my gas farther away.

The easiest solution is to not allow charity, food banks, social services, or homeless services to exist in your city. The homeless tend to migrate to where those places are located.

Since I like to eat costco or sam's club pizza on road trips, that's another plus. Those big cheap pizzas are a guilty pleasure. Not one of the tripfags, but you can't just hand wave the excuse that everything has a foolproof protection system. And when you say system, that means additional separate parts and a way to automatically trigger it to function and a way to get it to not function when not needed.

Your approach is the "rube goldberg" logic style. That is generally a bad approach for cars which have most systems pared down for cost savings. You should also be careful to not combine ideas from old cars with those of late 1980's to mid 1990's cars. Your ideas mostly became obsolete by the end of the 1990's due to even the lower end cars switching to the fuel module approach. Thus, even changing the fuel filter is something you don't want to cause to become necessary due to expense of module removal. I went thru that with one of my 1997 cars.

Both costco and sam's club shave the profit from some of their food items to get people into the store. Sam's hot dog / polish dog plus large drink for $1.50 is one example.

In washington state, there is a law that requires all people be able to access any pharmacy. Thus non-members must by law be able to use either a costco or sam's club pharmacy. Don't know if those shopping club entrance guards know that or not though.

But if they do let anyone inside, then on the way to the pharmacy you can simply stop at the deli to get your snack.

Canadian here, your American gas stations are more eventful than ours.

1.) Driving through Kentucky, filling truck. Some dindu hanging around the gas station with a rag and a spray bottle, walks up, asks if he can clean my windows. Windows are spotless. I say no thank you. He says he has kids to feed. I ask what that has to do with my windows - does he expect me to pay him if I let him clean my windows? I thought his gesture was charitable, not a request for employment. He says he would like some money, any money. I say I would like a lot of money, but life isn't always fair. He says he understands, and wishes for god to bless me (did not specify which god). I don't feel guilty, because I knew he was lying. The minute he told me he had kids to feed, I knew he was lying. 2.) Filling up in New York state, there's me and one other guy filling up. 5 dindus sitting outside the gas station on the stand that holds washer fluid and the curb. I walk inside to pay, and they all eyeball me really hard and aggressively. As I am at the counter, I see 3 of them get up and start circling my truck and looking in the windows. I pay and walk back outside to my truck. One of them is just standing in front of the truck, playing on his phone (purposely blocking my exit). The other two are just staring at me, and the last two on the curb have disappeared. I get in, start the truck, and lock the doors. The dindu is still standing in front of the truck, so I honk my horn shortly and wave him to the side. He doesn't even look up. I honk again. He looks up, then looks back at his phone.

The guy filling up at the other pump walks over, and 4 brick shithouse white guys step out of his Suburban. Two of them are wearing kevlar with POLICE on it, and they all have guns. The dindu looks up and turns white as a ghost, starts backing away and apologizing. Cop turns and gives me thumbs up, I wave and drive off.

Costco pays a living wage, so they do have a lot of employees that actually want to work there and do a good job. It's part of the reason why I like shopping there. And the store is big enough so that I get my walking exercise simply by talking up and down every aisle. Gypsy contractors claiming to be a pavement company offered to reseal their entire parking lot for a 400 unit complex. All they really did was essentially spray the entire parking lot and cheap black paint they even sprayed over the top of the weeds in the grass growing up through the cracks in the existing pavement.

That was about 6 months ago parking lot looks like crap again there

Several years ago I had a Michigan State Police Tahoe I bought as a package deal along with an MSP Crown Victoria. both were in that MSP shade of Pepsi Cola blue with push bars and spotlights.

It's become "The New Normal" for whole groups of people to be like that. That's what comes with generations of mexicans and blacks using social welfare services.

We used to have mexican run stores cashing out the monthly welfare cards. To avoid the fraud law, the welfare card holder comes up and "buys" $100 of stuff. The customer then resells the items back to the store at the wholesale rate which is typically a 42% margin with Associated Grocers wholesaling.

Presumably the stores gave a better cash return when laundering the welfare cards for cash. I don't know what the actual amount is now as those mexican stores are replaced with muslim stores that are probably doing the same thing. We have a ton of muslims refugees here now who have replaced the mexicans in that area. Muslims sure do like to open up stores. There's far more stores than when the mexicans lived in that part of town.

Here in the USA they have to be well lit so there is enough light to see any details on a black face if that person is wearing a hoody that sticks out over the edges of the face. And if they wear a cap and never look upwards, the security cam inside a store cannot see their eyebrows which prevents positive ID good enough for a criminal court.

Everyone knows the perp is guilty but a criminal court requires a substantial amount of proof. Otherwise, all the faces look the same even on a high-res security camera.

I also hate how barren the malls and gas stations look due to security against dindu hiding in shadows or bushes. No more trees, no more landscaped tall bushes with flowers. Seattle tried several expensive experiments to evaluate various methods at relieving homeless problems. We can't stop other states from shipping their homeless to us unfortunately. Two encampments were sponsored as well as a separate RV park for those living in camper trucks. Each became a magnet for various other problems and even additional lawsuits.

As expected, city taxpaying residents and businesses complained to the City Council about the crime rates around encampments. In the end, they were found to not work due to both expense and the problem of publicity - if you build it they will come from all over the county, state, and even out of state. It seems homeless will migrate to wherever they don't get heavily persecuted by gangs and the government.

So the only real way to solve the problem is "BREXIT". Unfortunately, seceding from the USA was tried and failed many years ago. So we have to keep accepting homeless migrating here simply because we have been trying to solve our own homeless problem. Seattle gets the nickname of "Freeatle" where too many things are free.

Segregation was eliminated many years ago. It's a fail method since they would still draw welfare and social services. The added desperation would only cause them to have even more kids at a faster and younger rate in order to qualify for priority subsidized housing and bigger welfare payments. Thus, you'd create a worse effect than already exists where black mothers in my city have as many as 17 children. The one I talked to at the public library had 10 kids of her own and her mother had 17 kids.

I once heard a rumor in my hometown that Seattle was giving bus tickets to the homeless and seeing them to us and other small towns in Washington.
At the time I didn't believe it, but by the time I'd graduated High School the homeless around really had grown a huge amount.

I never had a gas station begging incident till the navy moved me to California, few weeks ago a old Mexican dude offered to squeegee my windows while I filled up. I said I had no change but he did it for free and walked off

People send their homeless to seattle it seems.

Seattle's homeless population is growing between 18% to 30% each year in Seattle. As fast as they try to train the trainable ones to be self sufficient and get jobs, more homeless appear from out of state. It is not really our own population that is getting homeless. It is mostly out of towners.

If you sit at the library editing wikipedia (the research journal subscription databases are all there), you can hear a lot of homeless talk. It's clear they came here because they heard it was good here. Greenville Prison sent two recently released inmates here on bus ticket. They were talking about now they are here, what to do. The library has guidance for people like that including literature.

Over half the "users" in the library branch I am at are homeless. They basically sleep there all day or watch TV shows or movies via the free internet. They eat and grease up books chairs and tables. The other day, the black homeles guy ate fried chicken while pretending to read the paper. He kept dropping the bones on top of the table. When done he sort of smeared them off into the bag and left. The newspaper and other stuff strewn around and greasy. Some chairs are fabric and they wipe their hands on the fabric.

The worst ones try to steal and some are very aggressive. I know they are people, but they definitely are trying to be FURRY FANS because they are acting BEASTLY. It's amazing what welfare will buy. One toddler was eating greasy chicken nuggets and dipping or more accurately smearing sauce onto them. He came next to me and grabbed my shirt with a sticky saucy hand. I moved one seat away and the black lady accused me of racism! I said he was grabbing me with the sticky hand from eating and she didn't care. She just said he is not hurting you and you are showing racism!

Those people find any possible way to claim being a victim.

Always keep the car keys with you. To prevent accidental lockout, lock the car with the remote keyfob in your hand. Lock the doors even if you are there refueling. Someone can run up on the opposite side of the car, open the door, grab something and run off.

My local police had the TV news show an excerpt from gas station security cam footage. It showed someone walking up on the other side of the car and trying the doors. The front passenger was opened and he grabbed the lady's purse on the seat and ran off.
