why did the rotary engine never take off?

Expensive maintenance
complicated for the masses
wastes Oil like a VW
wastes gas like a truck

Probably because piston engines had a shittonne more development at that point, and they never had any company develop them exept for mazda. GM nearly did, they were going to put a 4.something liter rotary into a corvette, but it got killed off just before it was ready.

Someone please make it stop. It's like getting waterboarded with shitposts.

I think they're hilarious and a nice break from typical bench racing shitposting honestly.
I wish I had a pet cock like OP
>Beaten in economy and power by 16 year old LT and LS motors
>Easy to break due to abuse
>Muh apex seals
>makes shit all power without a turbo
Its really not suitable for street/daily stuff, it was a good race engine and that was about it.
