That's what I would try first. If you like the shifts when the trans is cold you might try a thicker oil that will retain more of it's viscosity when it gets up to temp.
I have coastal tractor fluid in my trans and it shifts well.

MT90 is 75w-90. MTL is 75w-80.

MTL would be less viscous then.
Have you tried any non synthetics? Some people say it's too slippery and doesn't let the synchros grab as well.
