the 308 is actually the best cheap ferrari to get. Most maintenance can be done with the engine in. The reason they're so cheap is that the 328 is simply a better car, more power, more modern, no carbs. However the 308 is one of the easiest ferraris to maintain, since there really isn't much that can go wrong aside from drivetrain issues you'd have in any ferrari. A carbed v8 means no weird fucky fuel injection to deal with as well.

Oh yeah, if you get it done at a dealer expect something like a $6k clutch job. Then again, if you're not interested in resale and do the work yourself, it can be done for less than half that. Dropping an engine on an older ferrari isn't that complex, after all since many services are engine out they're designed to make the job easier. If you can rent a lift, or have one, it's a 1-2 day job.
