Argh fucking Falcon BCM's

How hard would it be to wire in a manual boot switch toggle because the boot wont open anymore i have to open the back seats

Also windows wont go up or down sometimes and resetting the ecu by taking the terminals off the battery only work for so long

Fuck going to the locksmith or dealer to get this fixed any ideas?

Gonna get my jeep back on the road next month and my Dunnydoor hopefully soon

Sounds like a good plan. What colour?
Also as for the stereo there might be some fucking around. You'll probably have to bypass the factory amp which is hidden somewhere in the boot.

It defaults to 75psi rather than rising rate which is still enough for the injectors to do more than 1500cc

>>
>>16393883
Noice
>>
>>16393887
Rising rate adds extra fuel pressure when boost is added, so in this case 75psi base + 22psi = 97psi of fuel pressure.

More fuel pressure means the injectors can flow more, so in this case they're doing something like a possible 1600cc ish before rising rate and 17xxcc at full boost.

Not really needed right now with the small turbo and factory intake manifold, but later with a big turbo and better flowing manifold it'll start using up more of the injectors

not unless you run a tune for higher octane or the ecu knows what octane you're running through it.

Personally its a waste of time and money for daily driving

Those of you here who have more than one car and live independently in a major city, how the fuck do you do it aside from being rich? I'm trying to find a place to rent, and everything I've been looking at either has no space for an extra vehicle, or is disgustingly expensive.

Have looked into house sharing with someone else already established, but nobody is willing to give up a garage space, and those that do have an extra space spare don't like that I have two cars.

I'm doing exactly this, but am sharing a unit with someone in the Wolli Creek area in Sydney. Salary wise I guess I am living comfortably; personally I don't feel that owning cars I just trash on weekends is really that expensive. Flatmate doesn't own/care for cars (lucky me) so I get the garage space under the building to keep one car. Could technically keep one of them on the street but don't want to put either car outside because I don't trust these citycunts so I store one with my parents who live a few hours away and swap them around on occasion.

China bought out the city years ago so I know how hard it is to score a unit that has parking and doesn't charge a shitload in rent.
>>
>>16394799
Sounds miserable living in cities now I haven't even been near one in 2 years so i assume slots changed.
>>
>>16394807
Coming from a far more rural area, I hate living in the city and I get out of it every single weekend. My opinions here just apply to living in Sydney.

Too many lebbos.
Too many asians.
Overly aggressive drivers.
Automatic oversized hatchback SUVs with fullehsickloud exhaust systems screaming between apartment buildings doing double the speed limit at 2AM on a road that is so narrow you can't pass an oncoming car being driving by aforementioned ethnic groups.

When I leave a window open at night I hear a crash at least once a month.

Also red light speed cameras everywhere.

If good money actually existed in my field outside of the city I would happy move away. I could endlessly rag on about things I am not a fan of here. The city life just doesn't suit the town pace I was so well adjusted to before.
>>
>>16394799
Seems like you scored a good situation for yourself. Little bit jelly.

I dunno man... it's just fucked. I've got a couple of options in Brisbane. Find a place for myself that will house two cars with no issue. That's going to cost me around $400 per week in rent though, and I'd rather pay half of that to be honest. Or I continue looking for a place where someone is renting already and ask them if they'd be okay with having one car in the garage and the other on the street. It's made a hell of a lot more difficult by the fact that I don't know anyone in Brisbane.

Really tempted to just say fuck it, drive the weekender down to Tassie and leave it on the farm with the parents for a couple of years until I'm making enough to be able to effectively own two cars.

>must be roadworthy condition (same as normal registration) unless made before 1949
>logbook must be kept with vehicle at all times
>log whenever you drive more than 100m from home (or wherever the car is garaged)
>can log up to 90 days in 12 months or some shit

I've seen plenty of cars on club plates driving around alone on weekends and shit, but the 90 day limit means you can't daily drive it for very long. Still plenty for the odd weekend cruise outside of official club activities, or short-term use as a second car if your main ride is out of action for a few days.

>>16394754

Why not build on this idea and establish a share house yourself?

Move into a place and then advertise for a couple housemates or whatever to fill the extra bedrooms

Not something I'd do personally though, can't stand being around strangers that much.

Another idea might be renting a separate place with a few mates if you're there long enough to get that kind of crew together - lease a shed/workshop in an industrial area to store and work on your weekend rides

Could also look at a storage places but they get expensive and probably aren't big enough to split
>>
>>16394931
>Why not build on this idea and establish a share house yourself?
Did consider this, am still considering this as an option actually. Never lived with strangers before but I'm willing to give it a try.

>Another idea might be renting a separate place with a few mates if you're there long enough to get that kind of crew together - lease a shed/workshop in an industrial area to store and work on your weekend rides
Don't have any mates in Brisbane unfortunately, I don't know anyone there and the people that I'll be working with are kind of all nu-males. You know the types... cyclefags, weekend video gamers, etc etc. I'm pretty willing to admit that I am a bogan and finding common ground with nu-males is difficult.

>Could also look at a storage places but they get expensive and probably aren't big enough to split
Mmm, have myself a storage place for the first month or so I'm there just to keep my shit in until I find a place to live, but that'll be unsustainable long term. $450/month for one out of the city, close enough to work, and large enough to store a car.

When it comes down to it, I'm just too much of a poorfag to have two cars and live independently. Obviously I need to get it together, get a better career, make $200k/year starting with a math degree.

Depends on the model. New ones are bought by middle managers who want "Euro class" because they're brainwashed into believing that a base model European car priced the same as a kitted out domestic or Japanese car is somehow so much better.

E36's and E46's are bought by hektik habibs who think that having a 15 to 20 year old BMW makes them look like they're balling. Except for perhaps the M3, they're still kind of expensive.

Lastly, models older than that (E30, E34, etc) are bought by genuine enthusiasts or people who want to have fun.

>Just wondering what's the consensus on BMW cars in Australia?
People who can't afford them hate them. Plenty of folks in base trim 2 and 3 Series around.

I'm hacked off about no 3-door M135i sold here, only 5-door and I think they're all in auto.

>Are they considered for poor people?
It likely depends on the condition of the vehicle. E30s are regarded as classics now and prices are going up, but normies probably just see some old BMW. Most I've seen on the streets are in good condition.

Personally, I like the design of the E36 and E46.

>Are the repairs of a German car expensive?
From E9x onward, yes.

>Are they expensive?
Fairly, compared to other commuters of equal performance and comfort. Granted even our base trims come optioned out with luxury shit. BMW is marketed as a premium brand here.

They also depreciate pretty hard and a lot of the new ones are just leased by shitters.

>Are they considered high-class, do young adults like to drive them and is considered as a "must have" like iPhones if you want to be like the "cool kids"?
Sort-of, but even if you've got a new 3 Series people talk shit about it behind your back. How you must be compensating, or how much money you wasted that could've gone towards paying off their faggy arts degrees, etc.

There's no sense in buying a car to impress cunts here.

Also note that anything that applies to the 2 and 3 Series here will also apply to the Audi A3/4.

>>
>>16397754

Australia really didn't get any of the good sport models until the mid 90s so BMW was primarily a luxury brand. Those luxury cars are worth nothing after about 15-20 years.

The only BMW's that are worth something in Australia are the recently bought ones or those that are now designated classics or significant sports models like the M3.

A good example is the E39

The E39 540i is worth around $3500 to $9000 here. The E39 M5 is still a $25,000- $35,000 car.

The same is true of AMGs and all of the other European sports cars.

The price for E30s is just incredible. Anything that isn't the basic 318 can go for a lot.

There are some pretty valuable E39s going around such the M sport package ones and E34s are just beginning to get some attention. Obviously the M3 and M5 versions will be the most expensive but some older ones are becoming classics. The most flogged and common BMW I see around these days is fucked up E36 318s and E46 318s.

It's getting hard to find them. I almost thought I found a genuine E36 M3 for a fair price a few weeks ago which was a single owner old man but it turned out it was a 318is that he'd put on a M3 bodykit, M3 wheels, M3 steering wheel, M3 door sills, M3 badges and even some fairly rare M rain sport seats. Yeah, you'd forget about anything E30 related now. Dollar for dollar they just aren't worth it and that's coming from someone that owns two.

If I had to buy myself a cheap BMW I'd be after a E36 328i in manual or an E39 540i.

If I had like $20,000 I would be looking to buy:

I used to see some E34s going for well under $1000 but over the last year I'e been seeing even basic ones like the 520 and 525 go up to about $3000. 535s (especially manual) are seeing a pretty good increase, I saw a manual 535 go for about $6000.

I went for a drive with BLDC and some mates of his. CIHAN wasn't hosting a drive day at the time.

Do have a photo or two, but given that there were quite a few non-/o/ people, not sure of whether it would be appropriate to post a picture or not. BLDC did earlier on anyway, maybe you missed it?

95% of people here know fuck all, myself included.

The ones who do like AussieMuscle, BLDC, and a very few select others is because they actually work on their cars.
>>
>>16399533
Lift the clutch until the revs start to drop and you start pulling forwards, that's the biting point of the clutch, add some acceleration while letting off the clutch all the way and you are driving, the rest will just come with some practice

>>16399612
No service logs, only what I've been keeping so far. Getting one of these with an accurate service log is like finding a needle in a haystack.

>>16399618
Just did. With one wheel still on the ground, I can't spin the other at all.

Should probably mention that at 110km/h engine RPM sits at around 4k. Which seems a tad high for a standard diff.
>>
>>16399656
I'd say open it up and change the oil. I'm not 100% sure but I think it gets done when it was imported, when was the 86 imported? A rebuild can be costly so just try and get away with that.

Enjoy the smell of liquid death when you drop the oil
>>
>>16399533
You've been using the same WRX image for weeks now. There is no cheap RWD in Miami.
>>
>>16399663

Everyone here keeps talkkng about the sc mangtec. Is it worth getting a commo with one since they're all auto? Any problems with them?
>>
>>16399663
Was imported late last year by Iron Chef, so if you're right it would have been changed.

More maintenance will be done once it gets to Brisbane... just has to make the 1250km first. Already got a quote for getting the gearbox rebuilt, and trying to find a decent body works there to get some minor rust repair in the door sills done.
>>
>>16399757
Gearbox destroyer extraordinare here.

Apparently the 4l60e is the one you build.

But it's I'll equipt to deal with V8 and 3800sc power stock as you can see.

Just get a manual with a decent box and dump a quality clutch in it
>>
>>16399757
Yeah, still worth it. I'd personally look for a cheap donar vehicle and do a T5 conversion. But as with any factory forced inducted car, power increaes are cheap enough and you'll be sitting on 250-300rwhp without too many issues which will give you enough go to hang with or see off mildly tuned XR6 turboes. Combined with the relatively lightweight VS (if you go that route) would make for an entertaining drive.
