You can clean it, use a converter or sealer on it, and then paint it, or you can replace the parts

This is the underside of every car in the salt belt. You have mostly surface rust so I doubt it'll give you trouble in the natural lifespan of the car even if you do nothing and if you've brought the car to a state where they don't salt the roads it won't get much worse.

As far as fixing it goes, if it needs to be showroom perfect you need to replace parts. If it just needs to hold together you hit it with the wirewheel and some rust converter.

Looks like every other 8 year old vehicle in the salt belt
