>>16372345
>Avoids taking a side in RHD/LHD debates
For the F1, the stick shift is on the right so it driving dynamics are more similar to a LHD acknowledging the superior setup despite the car being from an RHD country.
LHD only makes sense on boats where there aren't any lanes for it to matter.

It's aging, which isn't normally a problem but is when you consider it's a supercar; something supposed to flaunt the latest and greatest engineering of the time. Modern cars are better and faster. That's just how things go. Is it still a marvel and a wonderful car? Yes. Is it the best naturally aspirated car ever? Yes. Do we have better cars that take advantage of more advanced systems like KERS/hybrid motors, aerodynamics, forced induction, and weight-saving techniques? Yes.
It's time to pass the torch, nostalgiafags.

>>16373078
LeMans is a meme. It's obviously meaningless if you can win it with a truck engine. Woo a bunch of faggots driving around a slow ass track for 24 hours. More like the 24 hours of autism.
>>16372969
If you think supercars about outright speed, then you have completely missed the point. You could assemble a kit car or modify a Camaro and smoke the latest multi-million dollar supercars for a fraction of the price and nobody would care.
The very best supercars are the ones that get remembered. This why old Shelby Cobra, Lamborghini Miura, Ferrari 250 cars, Mercedes 300SL, etc are highly desired and command such a high price when they trade hands. They were all historically notable in some way despite being technologically obsolete.
>>16373087
>Cirque La Sarthe
>slow
I see, you're just an idiot.
I mean, le mans is about more than just racing a track, as all tracks are. It's about concentrating on mileage, tire wear, endurance etc...
Racing is much harder than you apparently think it is...
>>16373087

The F1 GTR was good every where, not just Le Mans. It dominated GT racing in the mid-'90s.

You see, dumbfuck, there are this things called tyres. Tyres are made of rubber and, through the years, mankind has developed better rubber compounds which result in better tyres. And I know this will be hard to understand but stick with me: better tyres allow for better lap times, 0-60 times, skidpan numbers, the lot! Basically, the better the tyre, the better the numbers! So it stands to reason that a car with tyres developed in 2016 is faster than a car with tyres made in the 90s.
There you go, a free lesson in advanced automotive engineering for ya!

Still it was the best anyone could do at the time. IMO the rear wheels could be 1" bigger, the sidewall looks too tall compared to the front. Personal taste though.

Not in the same way as the CLK was. It was widely regarded as a division killing car.
>>16376936
>Mercedes-Benz-CLK-LM-8099.jpg
>CLK LM
kek... McLaren was no longer supporting a GT program by the time the CLK LM showed up in 1998. It was just a privateer team that sporadically entered a few races. In fact, the privateers were able to beat the factory Mercedes at Le Mans.
>>16377021
>the longtail F1 which was pretty much a purpose built race car
Nope. The "Longtail" F1 GTR was mainly a revision to the body. Besides the transmission in the racecar, it was still very much the same old F1 GTR underneath that has been racing for a couple of seasons already which meant that it still had the high canopy of the original F1 roadcar (because it was using the same chassis) making the '97 F1 GTR still much taller than the new breed of purpose-built GT1 cars like the Porsche and the Mercedes.
>>16376936
true, the f1 just couldn't compete with its ability to go airborne.
>>16376799
Parking brake.
This is the only car I think of that appreciated over eight fold in twenty years.

>>16373256

That's my understanding as well. Not sure on the details, but i remember watching a comparison between this and the P1. They were describing some sort of compromise or something made that resulted in the brakes being mediocre for a hypercar. Even for the time.
It's impossible to know the flaws of the F1, if any, because we are all NEETs and we will never drive one.
>>16380601
That, and there's less than 100 in existence, and with a global population of 7.4+ billion, the odds of anyone ever driving one are roughly 0.000001%.
>>16380804
Or one one-millionth of a percent.
>>16377335
Lol the clk went airborne too. Shits funny.
>>16373182
With all the advances in material sciences in recent years, you'd honestly be surprised how much it holds up. Ostensibly, the F1 ran on much worse tires than the GT-R did- especially since even for it's time the GT-R's tires are some revolutionary shit.
>>16380804
Yep, because there's a global lottery for every single car produced, each person on earth can only drive one car and each car can only be driven by one person.
>>16381531
Exactly.
>>16381531
When considering each one of maybe 60 production cars is exceeding $10,000,000 in worth, it's not a stretch to imagine each car has close to only one owner and driver.
>>16381625
Not even close, tons of people drive each example, they change hands all the time because they are investment pieces, transporters, auction companies, mechanics, detailers, on and on, in many cases the cars are driven as much by other people than they are by the owner, even if it is a single owner car. This isn't even counting all the manufacturing, transport, sales, media, etc. from before the car was sold, and with small run cars like this a good portion of them are used for press/show before sale.
