What were they thinking?
>>16366798
Look how symmetrical the sides are.
Makes it easier to build RHD and LHD versions if 90 percent of the parts work in either car
>>16366819
Seems dangerous and hideous to me
>>16366798
Is that an X-Trail?
>>16366819
Aka "Lazy design"
>>16366853
Yes friend
>>16366862
I think I'd call that overzealous penny pinching rather than lazy design.
>>16366877
Design choice made by the logistics department rather than R&D.
>>16366798
theres nothing stopping them spending a little extra and just modifying the top of the dash to be on the sides
>>16366798
Nice GT-R bro
>>16366819
why this is commonly the argument, I love how Suzuki designed the Aerio/Liana. Still symmetrical for LHD.RHD, but the gauge cluster is still where you want it.
AAAAAAAAAH ITS TERRIBLE
>>16368041
what is this even?
>>16366798
I like that steering wheel
>>16367983
>a fucking nail polish holder on the vent
This is that van at full thrust cost savings. It had a 240 hp v6 in it in 2006. It made 25 less hp than my mustang, you could spin the tires on that thing all day.

Thinking back on it, I'd buy another one of those now. Though the mpg sucks.
Exactly.. What in the name of fuck were they thinking?
>>16368529
Forgot pic
Automotive engineering is all about cutting costs where possible while minimising compromise to the user experience. Cars during especially shitty economic periods featured clever cost cutting measures, like the SD1 which had the same dash for LHD and RHD; the void in front of the driver housed the steering column while the passenger received an air vent.
Literally nothing wrong with cheaping out on certain design decisions.
