What TC are you on in that?
>>16361713
Set to 1, the most invasive. The problem isn't so much the tyres as it is the diff being EXTREMELY sensitive. Out of the box the settings for most of the GT3s are like that, they like to keep rotating underpower. But then you look at the setups and find they run quite a bit of diff power, softer front suspension, odd toe values. When you dial it in you can easily flat foot it without counter steer on exit, but you gotta play with the setup to find the happy medium.
The cars have more bite in the front end compared to before, but it feels like they didn't readjust the setup for this fact and they just want to kill you on corner exit now.
>>16361755
I've never been a big fan of the default setups in AC but from the bit I've tried of the Porsche GT3 the tires seemed better than they were back when we did AC GT3. Sort of reminds me of rF2 now where they can actually get overheated from driving like an idiot instead of staying perpetually cold which is nice.
Would love to do something with them.
>>16361802
Yeah, the tyres actually heat up now. Like at Monza, you deal with a cooler front right tyre with the Porsche but the rears stay quite warm. If you start sliding the car around the rears overheat and they lose grip. Meaning you gotta cool them off by slowing down. So setup wise you gotta adjust the car to be stable as opposed to trying to slide it around, unless you wanna go for a single flying lap or something.
My only issue is setup wise the car is more conservative then what I see for real life GT3s when it comes to getting roughly the same behavior. But that has been an issue going back to early access.
>>16361236
I think this should be on the AC wiki page desu

DMCA takedown when?
>tfw people from your country keep doing shit at every game you play
>tfw staying silent and hoping my ping doesn't give me away
I saw a video a while back where someone was using a logitech G27 or something with Gran Turismo, and the game would actually cause the steering wheel to turn while driving over uneven terrain, rather than simply shake or vibrate. I was wondering what kinds of PC games feature that degree of simulation.
I'll soon be replacing my 8+ year old toaster with something I can actually play games on, and since the Steam sale is going now, I was wondering what I should be looking into buying for when that day comes.
>>16361584
>>16361755
To make a point here, the car has fairly low rear wing, high diff power, with a stiffer rear suspension for default. The car itself feels like an oversteering mess out of the box, fuck with the setup a bit and the car is stable on exit. The only thing I don't like about the Merc is it doesn't feel nearly as responsive as the Porsche and MRs, so I'm finding myself lifting slightly before the apex to get the nose in that little bit more.
Kunos really needs to get someone that isn't retarded doing defaults. Because half the shit going on with them is retarded.

Yes. There's no online pass anymore for rF2 and there's no DRM on mods (aside from those that try to encrypt their physics). You're able to play with cracked and non-cracked players provided you're on the same game build which can be easily changed through Steam.

Does anyone know if rfactor track mods will work with rf2? If not how difficult would it be to get it to work? I found a mod of my local track for the first game but would love to play it in the second
>>16363301
Yeah the game takes longer to load the more cars/tracks you have so if you got a bunch of new cars from that download then that's probably why.
>>16363329
I think all you have to do is learn yourself how to repack it into a .rfcmp file with the mas2 tool. It might be buggy in rf2 since it won't work with real road stuff. I might be completely wrong also

YES! I've got a deal too with a ultra light gt wheel, again 50€. It was a real bargain, it's extremely nice.
this just happened holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Between Assetto Corsa and rFactor 2, which has a more accurate depiction of physics?
>>16366793
For a start, most shitboxes understeer in reality, and that's what makes up most of GTs car count. Furthermore, PD doesn't understand that weight balance is an important enough stat to get right more often than not, so many cars have a bunch of front weight in the game that isn't on the real car (NA Miatas are 54% front in PD land lel). Third, the default/showroom setup has a double shitload of rear toe-in in fucking everything.
To correct these shitty-assed setups, buy racing suspension just to straighten out the rear toe and add ballast the back of cars that have too much front weight. Doing so makes better than 90% of street cars start to work properly.
>>16366888
Considering physics only, it's a hard choice. I would consider AC for the FFB and RF2 for the racing experience
In other words pirate both
>>16366888
forza
>>16366888
The tires and FFB in AC can feel great at times but try them both at. There's still a lot of fucky things with AC tires compared to rF2.
>>16366888
rf2 got a some more variables like brake temperature and frame torsion, maybe others I don't know.
There was a debate about supercar physics of AC because of agreements with the big names. I would not trust them, I even bought the EA 3 years ago and for me it's been a letdown after every patch. I understand why Stefano threw an autistic outrage, it's nothing like the pure autismo simulator he wanted (where's netkar2?).
>>16366888
rF2 easily
>>16366888
At its best, rFactor 2 takes a massive shit from a great height on AC, and its not even close

>>16369395
Don't use controllers made for boats (aka wheels) for starters.
>>16366888
For under the hood stuff, rF2 simulates a lot more shit than AC does. AC treats unsprung weight as perfect circles of weight at each corner of the car. rF2 goes into the detail of modeling inertia in three dimensions for each individual component of unsprung weight (brake disc, wheel, upright, wishbones, etc).

As for the tires something felt a bit off with them, need to roll onto the throttle a lot nicer than I expected, but I probably just need to get used to it a bit more seeing as how it feels drastically different from back when we tried AC GT3 the first time around.
>>16370934
Booking system isn't all that bad desu. I think I can setup two servers, one where you can book into, then while you wait for the race time you can pop into another server to practice. Also I remember Purple Heart managed to crack it when Paul was running it. So it's possible.
Honestly though, it's just an idea. Otherwise, we can keep throwing shit at the wall for an rF2 series hoping something ends up sticking. Try other things, it isn't hard to get something working. It doesn't even need to interfere with the Saturday series. Could run it on Friday or Sunday. Doesn't really matter.
>>16370993
I only find myself rolling onto the throttle out of very low speed corners. Most corners you typically have enough aero to jab the throttle.

I remember back when iRacing set their tracks according to the proper GPS elevation and the cars all performed differently (air density) folks were just blown away. It's easy to forget sometimes just how incredible this sim really is.
>Why do you think it takes iRacing a lot longer to develop and release a car than every other sim out there?
>It surprising to me that some of you didnt realize the level of detail that goes into each and every aspect of the cars. Its why every car truly feels unique here. Ive driven a bunch of different cars in AC and they all just feel the same. Its so obvious theres a lack of detail and nuance in the model.
By the way 6 months later and this still hasn't been patched.

Whiplash
I think I found that the T500 has a limit on rotational speed: when I use 100% and 50% in control panel, max ffb force for 300ms gives a deltaXdeg of 280 and 270 respectively, that means a difference of 4%, in some tests 7% MAX. That's really strange, I can feel a lot more force on the wheel when at 100%. So I've repeated the test, this time for 90ms. Now, at max force, one reach 45, the other 32. That is a difference of 47%! Therefore, the wheel speed must be limited!
is there a crack for the new rf2 update yet?
>>16371545
I didn't make myself clear, I mean that with 300ms, the wheel reaches its programmed top speed and does not apply any more torque to accelerate it.

The off-the-shelf Michelins arent wrong. That's actually what the Michelin teams run. I'm just decrying the fact that they weren't something newer or more interesting, like Yokohamas or Bridgestones (the manufacturers that are ACTUALLY developing for the whole "tire war" thing).
>>16372048
The GT500 teams running Michelins don't use off the shelf tyres. Most are developed solely for the car and driver combo, something you can't just order. Because if I was running in WEC/IMSA I'd be ordering some of their Soft qualifying tyres for sure.
>>16372048
Dude what the fuck?
Yokohama is terrible in GT500, the only thing they can say is that at least they aren't Dunlop.
Michelin won back to back championships prior to this year on the Nismo factory car and had the highest placing Honda until Dome left, if they aren't fighting the tire war then everyone else is incompetent.
