What the hell, no one told me Volvo made a RWD hatch
And it was never sold in the 'states, neither was the 480.
Fuck you, Volvo!

Its a total piece of shit. You didnt miss anything
its an ugly shitbox wow

There is pontential. But yeah, they're kinda shitboxes

1.7T swap when?

>Transaxle with the gearbox placed at the rear to ensure shitty linkage. You better get some spare transaxles if you're planning on abusing it with anything over stock power.
>independent rear suspension (unusual for a compact RWD car in 1976), paired with goddamn leaf springs for maximum weight and negative performance gains
>Renault engines, so the Clio 16V engine fits into the later ones. But those are shit, and the M47 box it has in the ass can't take much more than 200hp anyways. So the way to go is B200F and then converting to B23FK
>Weighs like 100 pounds less than a 240 and has 50/50 weight distribution, still manages to feel and handle like a tractor in comparison.
I really want to like them, but they are shit indeed.
They don't have potential as long as there still exists a salvageable 240. Or 740. Or 940.
Hey I just bought one of those! It's slow as shit but no problems getting sideways in the snow

Hey now, the composite transverse leaf spring setups in the new 90 series is brilliant - roll bar and suspension in one, adding extra space in the trunk (which is great on the hybrid models).
However, a parallel steel leaf spring setup, combined with the awful De Dion axle (not fully independent!) are horrible. Never mind the weak engines. I'd much rather put a T5 into a 480 than into any 300.

I'd rock a 480 with whatever engine, those things are aesthetic as hell.
300 series is pretty hopeless, but there are exceptions to every rule; Moonshine Racing 343 (volvo inline 5) and KRB 343 (audi inline 5)

So, like a 944? I'm getting project ideas that involve fitting a 6-speed Audi/VW transaxle that's known to handle up to about 600hp safely...
>>16354740
I am physically attracted to the profile of the MX-3. I can't find a clean one around me though.
>>16355449
Yes just like the 944. Never thought of that, nice one.
