How is every single factory BMW Recaro from the 80s in Poland or Latvia? Is it gypsies? Do GS400guy and Davis have gypsy connections that can tap into this pipeline?

Are the memes about these cars real? If I buy a used BMW will it shit out on me immediately and cost me several times more the price of the car on repairs? I think the aesthetics of BMW are unmatched but reliability is very important to me and I don't want a car that will break, especially not in an expensive fashion.

>>16346660
Are you talking about BMW Style 5s?
Changed my oil today and got it up on an alignment rack. Lucky for me, it really is just my trailing arm that's bent, and not my subframe or anything worse.
I'm going to order a new trailing arm and a new set of bushings and when I have a week off I'll drop the subframe and get it all set back up.
I plan for this to be a DD/AutoX type car. Should I get factory rubber bushings or splurge and get the 85A poly set from Garagistic? The poly bushings are also easier to install, but I still don't know if I can justify the $100 more than the rubber ones.
I'm just a poor kid.
>>16347079
Also started cleaning inside my engine bay a few days ago. I wiped off the valve cover and it already looks so much better than before.
When I take it off to do the valve adjustment I'll probably paint it and the intake manifold.
>>16347079
It will ride rougher with poly bushings. If you are concerned with $100 you aren't going to be able to do much go fast stuff anyway so just stick with the rubber. Spend that money on good tires if you want to autocross it

You BMW guys aren't really helping your "badge whore" stereotype...
Just installed the new Wat Racing lowering kitâ„¢, u mirin /bmwg/?
I've been having an issue with my 2001 530i, maybe someone here can help.
Basically, the car doesn't start. I try to turn it on and absolutely nothing happens. A couple times when the problem first occurred and I was trying to start it, some lights on the dash did come on, the horn sounded like it was dying, and something was clicking, but the engine would not start. But now, there's no horn, no lights coming on, can't un/lock from the key button, no clicking sound, nothing. I can jump start it and it will work after some tries, but then after I turn it off, it will not.
I took it to an auto place and they told me it was the battery and gave me a new one. It was fine for a few days, but then the same thing happened, so my battery was never dead. Brought it back, they said they can't figure out what's wrong and gave it back to me.
I talked to a guy who runs a foreign auto and he told me the light that indicates stuff on the PRND may be draining it, but he can't take in any more cars until next Friday.
Do you think the foreign auto is right? Has anyone here experienced the same problem? Know what else could be wrong with it? I appreciate any help I can get.

I don't own an ///M or BMW, but I respect the fuck out of them (Infiniti fag reporting in). As far as the ///M stripes go, I don't see anything wrong with it. As long as they didn't take a 328i and slap an M3 badge on it. But someone with the 3 color stripes on the grill or ///M sticker or decal might have parts and accessories from ///M division, or he is just a fan.

I want to buy an e36 m3, it's my dream car. Literally my last purchase before I get into that married life. I found a manual one very cheap and the owner is an older lady that has had it since she bought it. I need to know what to look for, will have it inspected by a mechanic obviously. But in terms of maintenance, what should I be looking for and how much in terms of cost. The owner already told me the water pump will have to be replaced next and I'm sensing that the bushings do as well. Also, how detrimental is surface rust? I live in New England so it's a given that any 20 year old car is gonna have minor rusting. Is there a way to get rid of it and help protect the paint?

That actually proves the original battery was dead if the same thing happened to a new one a few days later. It's possible that in those few days, you've been driving around with a dying alternator and it hasn't been charging the battery very well.
>>16352111
I have manual cloth sport-seats in my m3, I was a bit skeptical at first and planned to switch over the leathers from my 330, but they're great. More surface friction so less moving around in the seat, doesn't burn my butt in summer and no frostbites in the winter. Feels good man.

Curbstoner. High miles, sketchy ad with someone who can't spell check. 16 days unsold. Don't waste your time.
>>16356862
I'm pretty sure I'm looking at last gen stuff (2003-2007) is in my price range.
I'm just trying to get a good idea of the cost of living with one and what the main differences between the models are (I'd prefer an sDrive35i but if there's no real performance upgrade from say an sdrive28 or the regular z4 3.0 I can live without it)
I'm less concerned with the driving dynamics as I know it'll be better than the mid 90s Honda I have right now lol

I'm not sure what curbstoner is supposed to mean
>>16356880
"S-Drive" at least in North America didn't come around until the second gen. Just means RWD. Either way you can't get 3.5 turbo in the e85 ('03-07). Best you can get is an M Roadster with an e46 M3 S54 engine, like me
>>16356883
Is it just this particular example a piece of shit or is the model itself shit?
>>16356897
Yeah there's no way in hell I can afford one of those lol, the sDrive35is are 2009s and a bit over my limit but within my loan limit (I have 15k hard cash and am willing to loan up to 10k but would prefer not to)
Safest bet would be a low mileage 3.0?
>>16356891
Bloody hell.
Either way you are looking for an American e85 Z4. I have driven the 2.5i, 3.0i, 3.0si, and ///M which I own now. Honestly, I started at the bottom but couldn't find a good one a few years ago for 10k (2.5i) then stepped up to 3.0i, 3.0si, then said fuck it I'm buying an ///M and I don't regret it. You can get a 75k M Roadster for 18k or less. Buying any Z4, unless it is under 10k, is a BAD idea. Trust me.
>>16356904
You aren't getting a good 3.5is e89 for 15k. Period. Otherwise show me the link.
>>16356904
God dammit I thought I fixed my pics.
Either way anon you are way deluded about the actual prices of these cars. For 18k you can own a 60k mile M Roadster.
>>16356917
I said it was a bit out of my hard cash limit but within the amount I'm willing to loan for which means my max price is ~25k.
And do you mean under 10k cash or miles-wise?
>>16356928
The cheapest z4m's start at 25k within a 200 mile radius of me
>>16356929
Don't buy a Z4 for under 10k unless it is a 3.0i. Otherwise pony up for an M Roadster or Coupe.
E89 wise, only buy a 3.5i. 25k is pushing it tho. for 25k you can own this sexy bitch.
is there something similarto bmwfans.info but in 3d or project to upload in blende/3dsmax?
On bmwfans.info you can check every part of your car, I would like to see something like this but in 3d where you can for exaple display engine and turbo etc.

>>16356938
I'd love to but I hate the entire thought and process of being in debt even for short periods of time.

>>16356948
>I think I'll look into the 3.0i and see what it saves me compared to a 3.5i and we'll go from there.
You're comparing two different models bud. e85 vs e89. Very different. Hard top retractable GT car vs a soft top sports car. Just saying, they are only alike in name and having two seats.
>>16356948

>>16360032
You're fucked man. Need to find a LH thread EZ out and an inductive heater to heat the shit out of just the bolt, then EZ out it while it stays hot. Don't worry too much about the extractor breaking, they are pretty brittle so you should be able to chisel it back out if it breaks.

Hpfp problems are thing of the past. The improved fuel pump has a 100k mile warranty. The old fuel pump was so shitty that if you see a running 335i today then its certain that its running on an improved fuel pump. Waste gate rattle is something that can be tuned out. Yes an ecu flashing can eliminate that mechanical noise. Check your service history and take it on a wild test drive before you purchase
>>16356774

>>16360482
Are you sure you found good prices for both? Just glancing at listings in the UK an E46 M3 is about $10k and an E30 M3 is about $40k. The two cars are barely comparable, the E30 is a very desirable homologation special, the E46 M3 is a boring commuter
>>16360567

Got new Pilot Super Sports mounted and balanced. The damn spare broke on the inside after a day on so I took off the wheels and brought them in haha.
For several months I've been meaning to test out my 20mm spacers on the rears. As you can see, they touch when settled. So... go safe with 10mms or attempt 15mms? Or just say fuck it, get a roll and put the 20mms on the rear and get 25mms on the front?
First pic is without it. The second has them on and settled.

"Scheisseschachtel" does not mean what you think, OP. The word you're looking for is "Scheisskiste".
>>16369632
Yeah after visiting hours there really isn't anyone up there. After 5 is a good time to go. I've never seen any police on the mountain, I suppose the Rangers take jurisdiction. But I've never seen them on the S6/S7.
/o/ has had a few meets there apparently. I've seen Subbies, Porsches, etc drive around in 2-3 car groups. Bikes like it too.
The corners are quite fun, but I wouldn't recommend high speed for most of it. The surface isn't particularly clean, and some shoulders just drop on the inside corners. Lots of blind corners. I don't know, it is a mountain. What is there to expect haha?
Just watch for the cow crossing grates and you don't have too much to worry about.
>>16369650
I need at least 10mm spacer to clear the strut with stock wheels. They wouldn't be so sunken with stock suspension. The top face of my wheel is under the lip so I'm not that worried about chipping.

I'm going to be there at 5pm when it first starts. I want to get some good daylight photos.
actually recently purchased this recently. has about 175k miles on it but just recently had the timing belt changed out.
My next project on this is swapping out new headlight lenses (current ones are cracked pretty bad) and adding daylight angel running lights when I install them. not sure if I want to do interior next, cloth is coming off.
Would painting the hood and trunklid black on an E24 look weird? Looks so good on 2002s and 3.0s but maybe it won't work on the E24 body lines. Going to paint the rest of the car with BASF Liquid Metal Silver (same as 918 Spyder), should look good but even then straight up silver always looks a bit bland to me. White is the best color for the car no question but I don't want to paint the jambs.
>>16370763
My thoughts exactly.
Nice lux slats!
Looking at some listings, and I can find 330Ci's in the 4000-6000 range in my area, but there's also a ZHP for 11.5k. Is the ZHP worth it if I'm just looking for a fun DD?
On one hand, that's more than I feel comfortable spending, but the ZHP package is basically what I'd end up putting on my E46 anyway, plus there's also the improved engine, and those parts+a non-ZHP will probably cost more than just buying the ZHP outright.
ALRIGHT, what's up /bmw/, merry christmas.
I've always wanted a fucking bmw, and now I'm looking to buy one. Now, I ain't rich as fuck and need something thats decently affordable. I don't know how you feel about automatics, so do tell. also, I've always been talked OUT of getting one due to their PARTS and price for the parts. I've been told its pretty expensive once it shits on you. talk me into getting one. Preferably one that's a bit older like pic related. I like this very much.
Would these anthracite floor mats look out of place in a black interior? They don't have black anymore. I guess they were meant to go with anthracite cloth + amaretta interior.

I had an auto M3 in the past. The transmission died because, like many, the fluid was never changed because it was BMW Lifetime ATF.
If you want an auto, be sure it has been properly serviced. Other than that, they are good transmissions. I mean, it is a 90s auto transmission, so it isn't the fastest thing out there. Also, no 1st gear limit and "manual mode" only works in 2nd 3rd 4th... D doesn't count as 5th, it will just resume automation. And I honestly could not tell much of a difference between Sport and Economy mode.

I'm gonna be COMPLETELY honest with you, I'm a dirty female, and I want an old school bmw because "its cool and it'd be dope to own one as a girl ecks dee xD" I'm looking for something that runs well for a clueless female. If I have to teach myself everything there is to know about the fucking car then so be it, but a rec would be appreciated
>>16373298
The auto is great for highway cruising, but if you like to get to the core power of the car, you really need to get a manual.
At least in my area you can find both with relative ease. Autos are generally in better condition body wise because they just aren't that thrilling.
And if you want an M3 saloon you'll get extra street cred because there are less of them. Gangster style I guess. But I don't regret switching to a coupé.
>>16371473
It will look like shit. Painting the hood and trunklid of a car a different color than the body usually looks like shit. Very rarely does it work, even more rarely does it look as good as the whole car being one color.

I got this shitbox for 300 yurobucks, cheapest pile of V8 powered problems I've ever bought.
Anyway, is there any easy way to tell the M60B30 and B40 apart?
The previous owner claimed that the 530 E34 was B40 swapped but he failed to show proofs, to which I clearly stated that unless he manages to prove otherwise, the engine is a B30 and I won't be paying his asking price.

E32 fampai, the wheels are nigged off my E60 530d and fit right in, the big 7 came with ugly steelies under her, so the E60 wheels will have to do till I can find (afford) some nice looking wheels for her. Been thinking about some neat deepdish wheels along the lines of ATS Classics or such, not gonna slav her like my old 7, but want to make her a bit more youthful in appearance.
Also, what could it be with my E34 530 that causes her to do fuckall bellow 2k rpm, the engine just sputters and runs extremely rough when you step it down.
Idles okay though. Gave her new spark plugs that slightly helped the situation.
Been thinking about checking the coil packs too.
>>16377844
the engine sputter could be a leak in a intake pipe
>>16378761
Maybe a wheel speed sensor kicked the bucket?
>>16373726
It's this actually a hydraulic engine mount? Or did you just mean hydro bushings? Cause they should be an easy fix.
>>16377844
Check error messages (intake or exhaust sensors), and if they don't tell you anything check the CCV.
>>16378778
>>16378835
No error messages on the display, will check the intake soon. It works normally when idling in park or neutral, sputters only when driving.
The right side of the intake does whine when you apply throttle, could be a leak.
Also Davis senpai, have you replaced your waterpump on your E60? Removed mine today after welding up the E34 a bit and realized that the waterpump was leaking like a jailbai at biebers concert.
>>16378812
The V8 mounts are hydraulic as far as I know, mine has lines going from the pump into them.

Dumping
Please excuse the poor phone photos
Got some sort of gas leak on my e90 325i. I can only smell fumes for like 20 minutes or so after running the car, so I doubt it's the tank, conventional logic would imply that if it were the tank itself I'd have constant fumes in my garage and visible dripping. Thinking (hoping) it's just a fucked fuel filter as that seems like an easy fix. Anyone have similar expiriences? Would appreciate any input.
>>16379308
This is the last one.
>>16379251
A fuel line had a tiny puncture in my E32 750. Smelled horrible but never found a proper leak as the gas was dripping on to the exhaust and vaporized there

but my car is leaking coolant and my engine is dirty so there is some sort of oil leak from the top, probably valve cover gasket

Anyone else use one of these? Schwaben scan tool. Bought it off Turner a while ago but only just used it for the first time today.
It seemed like all the features it advertises weren't there, at least for my car.
I couldn't find in it where to reset the service interval, but it reset it for me anyway, so kind of doesn't matter, but a bit annoying if it does that every time I plug it in.
>>16388236
>Schwaben scan tool.
Not trying to be harsh but there is no reason for a bmw owner to get one of those standalone scanners.
Use a cheap inpa setup that cost you <$100 & an free hour for the adapters & old laptop. Works fine for me and I can see exactly what the ECU sees while being able to reset every light on my z3. Also saved me shit tons of time and cut through bullshit when dealing with people trying to sell classics with only the 20pin port.
