What say you /o/?

Don't buy one. I own an 07 and they fall apart, are fat, unreliable, and expensive.

>volvo
no one is gonna fix it when it breaks.

I was planning on not being a pussy and turning a wrench on a Volvo and I thought this would be a good start

If you know what you're doing and are willing and able to take the risk...it's your money

Would an older Volvo, say an 850R or regular turbo be a better fit?

a thousand times yes.
working on those cars is actually doable, modern R types require more specialized equipment, electrical diagnostic gear etc.

This is a scam, right?
CL question for you guys.
Posted an ad today for my jeep xj and in the first 20 minutes got an email with "you still have this?"
Usually get this shit when an ad is about to expire, or if it gets renewed, but what I can't figure is why the hell they do it? I mean since cl anonymized the emails there is no information to harvest right? Yet there you go "you still have this?" And no response ever.
So tell me o, wtf are they getting out of running these cl bots?

> buy $6000 Volvo
> needs $22000 in parts and repairs
Actually had an xc90 and within 6 months it needed more than half what I paid for it in repairs. It was like $8000 and they hadn't even estimated the brake job yet.
You want to wrench? Buy a jeep or Chevy, plenty to do, cheap parts.

04 is a weird year for the Rs. Different electrial system than 05-07. 3rd gen Haldex instead of 4th gen for 06-07. Angle collar gear is supposedly stronger on 06-07.

Weird. I have an 07 with around 90K miles and it's needed fuck-all aside from oil changes and new brake rotors, although the struts are due up soon, which I'm planning on having done the same time I change out the sways and end links. What's gone wrong on yours?

The seller is including the VIDA/DiCE shit, tho. Still a pain in the ass.
Anyway OP the SR is decent, but hold out for a 06-07 if you can, and a VR if at all possible. Also when the seller says that he hasn't taken joy rides, he's full of shit. The car's at its best when shod in good snow tires and fucking around in the snow. Or even the dirt. One big thing to watch out for is cracked cylinder walls, which happens most often when you run higher boost. Preventative for that is Barton sleeves, but that is a process that costs maybe $5K. Then maybe you can more safely run power modzzz, not that the car really needs them. Suspension/chassis upgrades are where its at.

whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
The cars are supposed to be sleepers damnit.
