Cars have changed styles long since a huge glovebox was a feature along with bench front seats. As center consoles increased their storage size, the front passenger glovebox became shallower in order to provide more passenger legroom as well as space for electronics, the increased amount of ductwork, and the passenger airbag.

My car has five doored storage compartments instead of just trying to have one giant-sized passenger glovebox. The non-locking passenger glovebox is still the largest followed by the center front console. The rear center armrest console is next followed by the small driver glovebox. The fifth one is the hidden one behind the touchscreen display which will swivel out and upwards to reveal a lit rubber-padded (prevents rattling of items you store in there) cubbyhole.

Of amusement is the center console has an extra long deep narrow section which suggests it was created to provide enough depth for a revolver holster to fit as those have long barrels.

I swear you can fit a 17" laptop in the Dart's glovebox.
