Cars that are rare but shitty

>drive to bad side of town
>ford probes everywhere

>need new car because mine got totaled when I got rear ended
>hear that the son of a family friend has a car he fixed up and wants to sell for $1000
>1993 Ford probe gt
>go look at it at night, the dude mumbles something about white smoke coming from the engine when a guy test drove it before but he "thew a new head gasket on it and it's good now"
>doesn't start and he fiddles with it for 30 minutes and it eventually starts
>test drive it. The pop up headlights are pretty cool, and it has decent power
>give him 1k without negotiating , take the title and keys and drive home
>in the light the next day see some kind of white glue on where the head gasket goes, electrical tape all over the wires
>thing starts overheating after 2 weeks, add coolant and stuff but eventually it won't start.
>mechanic says its totally fucked and I should just scrap it
>title wasnt even good so I just gave it to the scrap yard for free
I think I deserved it for how stupid I was
>>16326373
YOU SHUT YOUR WHORE IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU
>>16326408
Which in no way is the fault of the car, but your dipshit son of a family friend for being an idiot
>>16326373
Pic related. Nice to look at, but totally shit
>>16326373
F/L2 Tiburon is the king of shitty.
Looks amazing but the engineering is 20 years old and the build quality is absolute shit.
Only came out for two years before the design was repurposed in the Genny and it's space in the market replaced with the Veloster.
>>16326373
Saw one of these a few months back attached to the back of a shitty mobile home
>>16326373
Shoulda been a rear engined mazda mr2.
>>16326426
What even is this?
did i win thread?
>>16326415
give it a 6 speed swap and sti brakes and you fix all of its problems
>>16326415
Why are these shit?
Is it the engine, 4wd system, or just general unreliability?
I was looking at buying one...
>>16326430
Mercury Capri XR2 Turbo
FWD
Aussie designed
Complete shit
>>16326398
Best W-body.
Had one as a rental, very nice. One of the few GM vehicles I actually liked driving and could consider owning.
>>16326373
Also these. Have only seen one in real life
>>16326418
Why do people on o keep saying this car looks good? It's hideous. And the only reason they are rare is because most are in junkyards
>>16326430
Capri?
>>16326433
Throw in a LS1 while you're at it
>>16326439
Auto only. Parts are hard to find. Overly complicated car.
>>16326426
Someone always asks, have a babby-camaro.
>>16326415
Take that back you fiend
>>16326453
If you think this counts as shitty you should cut off your dick and change your name to Caitlyn.
>>16326547
Auto only
V6 only
>>16326398
Fuck off cunt it's a great car
>>16326453
thats because all the boomers who bought one keep them in their garage
>>16326453
pic related from this summer
>>16326765
another one
>>16326769
I think it's the headlights and the Chin that trigger me. Also the fact that it's a v6
>>16326421
I saw one in Durham, NC yesterday on South Miami Blvd., turning onto 70 heading towards downtown. No hatch though. I almost followed the Mexican woman home.
>>16326398
That's a great car you dick. /o/ loves the Oldsmobile Intrigue
>>16328249
Speak for yourself. All 80's and 90's GM is fucking shit
It's a good car but it's a death trap for inexperienced drivers who don't know about the snap oversteer
>>16326432
only the 4 wheel steering ones are rare but yeah, that's your mechanic's wet dream
>>16329575
>It's the snap oversteer meme again
Have you driven an MR?
>>16326418
My cousin had a tib and it was beyond shit, blew window motors on a monthly basis aswell as A/C. Brakes would grind like fuck no matter how new, handbrake would work half the time, had to manhandle into first.
>>16326462
The six speed in SVX is pretty much bolt on. You just need to drill some holes for the clutch pedal and thats it. Same goes for STi brakes.
>FWD shitbox
>1.8L 12 valve I4
>pop-up headlights
I've seen exactly 3 of these, all the non pop-up headlight version, all in the same pull-a-part junkyard.
Almost made me cry, dammit.
>>16326518
Oh hey. Didn't see you there.
>>16326373
Ford ZX2 S/R. Literally just an Escort ZX2 with some bolt-ons, suspension bits, short shifter, and some trim. Only 2100 made.
I almost bought one. The interior is fucking terrible, like every other early-00's Ford.
>>16326373
those arent rare or shitty
unless you get an automatic the automatics are complete shit
>>16329773
My aunt had the hatchback, pretty damn rare
>>16326421
>could've bought one of these for $250 from the owners front yard
>it included the weird canopy
i thought it was shit because it was small and fwd so i bought a dunnydoor off his neighbour instead for $300
>>16329575
>MR2
>rare
>>16329717
Literally all you have to do to avoid it is NOT brake or life off the accelerator while turning.
>>16326432
not shitty at all just unreliable and understood
>>16329773
>tfw you'll never be able to collect all the geos because this is so rare
toyota sera
>>16332566
>fwd
wat
how is it 90s jdm is still fucking so mysterious with all their weird cars im still discovering for the first time
Never fucking heard of this until your post and the Eunos Cosmo a couple of weeks back
>>16329773
i saw the JDM version a few years ago (Isuzu PA Nero)
I cant be the only one who thinks it's kind of pretty
>>16332566
I wouldn't say the Sera is shitty. It's not fast, it's basically a Starlet in a fancy dress, but it's pretty cool in it's own way.
>>16332121
how unreliable can they really be? wouldn't you just buy better parts when they break?
>>16332547
I belive a prizm GSi with the 4age is rarer than any storm
>>16326433
What about the missing 100+ HP.
230hp / 3500lbs
Come on now, or come on as fast as you can which would be pretty damn slow in that.
>>16332636
EG33s can take boost
>>16332568
you just need to play Gran Turismo
>>16326398
Wtf I own one of these, it doesn't run and the exhaust system fell off. Its been sitting for about 2 years now. I didn't know they were rare
>>16332612
It's shit, stop astroturfing with your faggot damage control and excuses you slut
>>16332612
>but it's pretty cool in it's own way.
Said no one ever except for a toyshill.
>>16326421
go go gadget [ S Y N T H W A V E ]
>>16326439
Transmission is glass, brakes are shit, and the bushing shit the bed early.
Still a REALLY cool car though, and I love seeing them on the street.
>>16334030
A horribly underrated car. It's a shame all the good ones are horribly overpriced.
>>16326462
>auto only
>Subaru only sold manual AWD SVX in my country
feels good not being a burger
>>16334172
no they didnt
not a single manual SVX came from the factory
all of them are AWD so no shit
>>16326415
It's not totally shit, it's just an inherently flawed car from the factory. Owning one is a commitment. I would own one, but I'd want to compile as complete of a list of fixes as I can before purchasing. I already know the tranny has to be replaced with one from certain Legacys/Outbacks, but there's a laundry list of other shit too.
>>16334190
>certain Legacy's/Outbacks
It can use any trans from any EJ car, the popular swap is the hawk eye WRX trans
>>16329575
MR2
>Shitty
>>16334225
Ah okay. I suppose what I read about it was written with the assumption that you weren't converting it to manual.
>>16329575
>>16334238
I would assume you would need something more powerful if you're gonna stay auto like one from an 04-05 Legacy GT
>>16334030
I would love one of these but when they go on market (which is rare) they never run right.
I would kill for one of these. Pretty much a geo metro with a halfway decent engine. Rare as hens teeth
>>16334186
Im hue, all SVXs here are manual, finding an auto SVX is actually quite fucking rare down here
Japan also got manual SVXs too, dont think that just because muricans cannot shift on their own all SVXs on other markets had to be auto
>>16334395
I think it was because the SVX was meant to be Subaru's "luxury" car, and automatics were still considered """"luxury"""" at the time in the US.
>>16326415
I looked at one of these before buying my first car, it was 90's green.
