I have $12,000 and I'm looking at either:

http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/cto/5912688762.html

or

http://longisland.craigslist.org/cto/5875744262.html

To replace my current daily (1998 Honda Civic EX 5spd with 174k miles and windshield rust).

Only thing stopping me is that aside from the loud annoying exhaust that rusted apart again and maybe worn shocks, the Civic has been remarkably reliable, and I've already changed out all the wear items (did tierods/balljoints and wheel bearings last winter, and clutch/timing belt and water pump last year). Did a oil/trans fluid change last weekend, and I'm doing the plugs this weekend.

I'm saving the rest of my money for a downpayment on a house. Don't see the point in anything more expensive and I have a bike and project car already.

The SE-R performs far better (HLSD, 0-60 in 6.4 vs 7.7 seconds, 1/4 in 15.0-15.4 vs 15.7-16 seconds, way bigger brakes, safer, slightly better mpg, newer).

The Matrix is $1000 cheaper and has a new clutch, and its seats fold flat so I can throw a mattress in the back to camp out in it (the SE-R can't fold its rear seats down, though its big inside).

Wanted one since i was a kid, was going to buy one a couple of years ago but life got in the way. Not super expensive cars either but ive never bought a car more expensive than my 3000 dollar ranger :(
>>
I'd look for a Suzuki Kizashi.

Or settle with a V6 Accord. Fuck the sentra se-r's. Get a V6 camry. Faster, smoother, and better on fuel and most importantly, insurance + you don't look like a faggot driving one with those wack ass red seat belts.

I would tell you to avoid that Nissan at all costs. Those 2.5L QR25DE engines had a propensity for the precat disintegrating, back-flowing into the engine, and destroying the entire engine from the inside out.
I'd go with the Toyota.
>>
I saw a manual 2008 Subaru legacy AWD 5 speed manual with 75k miles for that price the other day.
>>
>>16322078

why a kizashi specifically?
>>
>>16322134
Not him but it's a seriously under-rated car. If I could figure out how to convert the AWD models to manual using the SX4's manual AWD transmission, and not fuck around with the computers, I would.
Besides. it's gorgeous and is your only defense against evil snowmen.

Everything I heard about the QRs has to do with the B15s, they were heavily revised after 2007. Different pre-cat design. Literally the worst I found with them were overly sensitive knock sensors ($5 30 minute fix)

>>16322079
>spending all your money on a daily driver when you already have a project and two bikes

what's the point? its a depreciating asset why would i want something more expensive just because

>>16322078
The Camry/Accords are too big, IMO. Plus their driving dynamics are pure ass, I might as well look for a 04-08 Prius at that point. I kinda wanted something compact. And the Kizashi is rare.

muh nigguh

Id buy a cheap E39 525td for 4k and spend the rest on meme v8 swap, break upgrades. Sell the 2.5 engine.

I might go for older S38B38 inline 6 BMW engine. Whatever I find more available/cheaper.

Id do whatever I can on the car by myself or with some connections I could get discounts.

Result - M5 tier performance with swiss watch reliability.

Probably would look sleeperish too. Depending on money remaining Id go for M5 look (the only body kit suiting E39) and custom colors angel eyes (the remote controled ones).

I could save some money quickly for racing seats etc.
>>
>>16321888
NB Miata for $3k. I could use the remaining $6k on maintenance and keep the thing running for the next 20 fucking years
