they have a dirty name for sounding like sewing machines and being boring.

Vtwins are in the ranks of harley's which appeals to old people, and bikes like the RC51, panigale 899/959, etc. Ptwins have sv650's and fz07's which aren't bad but meh. I guess they're cheaper to make.
>>
>>16317852
The handle doesn't shake all they did was tighten the big bolt on top and it works fine. The rear wheel was allingned and doesn't make a sound anymore. All thats left to do is see if it hits 120.

'adventure bikes' are way out of their element offroad. Watch the long way round and see them struggle to heave like, 600+ lb motorcycles upright in shitty mud, repetitively.

The new africa twin is a 'me too' memebike, the GS is a competent upright tourer. That is all.
>>
>>16317978
Isn't that why they wanted the KTM intead? It's hard to make a bike that's light, powerful, and required little maintenance.
>>
>filtering through heavy traffic
>see a gap to merge back into
>car won't let me merge

Usually I just look at them a bit angrily and drop back because by not slowing down and letting me merge I am being forced into a pretty dangerous position, should I just honk my horn and give them the finger next time? Because I fucking hate this, either they are an asshole or don't ever look at the mirrors.
>>
>>16318023

>>
>>16318037
Not really an issue on my liter peter. You can try just drifting over and people will give you room 98% of the time but it's not worth getting ran over to be 1 car length ahead.
>>
>>16317846
Because packaging, weight, cost.
It'll be lighter, visually smaller and cheaper than the V-twin counterpart would be, and using an adequate crank angle, it'll sound alright too (see: Nud 900 at 315°, MT-07 at 270°).
>>
>>16318099
I definitely agree, it's just going to be seen as a lesser bike because of the engine config to most of consumers that associate V's with performance.

oh god, I went riding with a couple of fz07 retards and they were annoying as fuck. Always talking about chicken strips, taking photos of their bikes at every chance, and when we went to get some beers they ordered calamari "because of the squid meme".

One guy had something like 8 speeding infractions in the past year, wrote off his last bike doing a wheelie into the back of a car and ended up writing his fz07 off a couple weeks afterwards. I follow him on instagram and he's still a nobike complaining that he can't ride and this took all place in the early summer.
>>
>>16318114
if people try to shut you out, you can be a little bitch and let them or just keep merging in. the merge blocking is a passive aggressive pussy move.

>>16318171
why the fuck haven't speed limits been updated in like 80 years? They were designed when we were driving around in wooden crates with engine on them.

Nowadays cars are safer, brake faster, accelerate faster, handle better, more efficient, etc. and we still have the same cucked limits.

It literally makes people worse drivers. Building this hyper-micromanaged structure for "safety" gives people the impression that they are immune to accidents, simply because they're wrapped in so many layers of fucking bubble wrap.
A safe driver/rider takes responsibility for the regular danger of their actions. European roads are like half the width of Aussie roads, and people generally drive faster. If it's obvious how easily you can crash & fuck yourself up, the onus is on you to git gud & DFU. Even shit drivers in Europe have the road-sharing sense & spatial awareness of above average Australian drivers.
>>
>>16318204
dude made a good video on it for where I live

>>
>>16318234
Pretty damn good video, Canadianon.

>the government ignored the best scientific advice they were given after spending piles of your tax money to get it

One thing that I really notice in Europe (coming from driving in Australa) is that any time the speed limit is reduced along a stretch of road, it's because there's actually a reasonable risk of accident by coming through too quickly.
>blind corners
>blind intersections
>passing a school
Sometimes, the road design actually backs up the speed limit. For example, cruising at 70 on a country road, come up to some village & the limit drops to 50. Right before the speed zone change, they put a bend in the road that naturally forces you down to the limit. Now, it still feels like you're going about as fast as the conditions allow, and you're also going about as fast as the law allows. Fucking brilliant design!

spending money on brand new bikes is retarded. they are severely overpriced and only offer trivial improvements over previous generations. it's not like the laws of the universe (gyroscopic effect, bike geometry, etc...) is going to ever change.

pic related, spent $1600 for the ninja 250, $3,300 for the gsxr 600, and $2100 for the gsxr 1000. literally no reason to spend $10k for a new bike unless it's a S1000RR (or indian scout if you're a cruiser fag) which is the only bike worth buying new

Hey y'all, I've got a question.

My neighbor is offering me a CB750K5 he inherited and doesn't want it around, so he was offering me $800 plus the back fees (about $300, so $1,100 total). It's fairly clean with only a few dings and scratches here and there. I've heard the bike run before, but currently the battery is deader than a door nail.

What thinks ye? I don't have a license as of yet and this would be my first bike; would 70hp be too much to handle?

Just because it runs, doesnt mean it wont need a ton of hard to find parts

It's a good price if it's in riding condition.

It probably needs things like tires, carbs cleaned out, suspension work, etc.

Literally google "kawasaki parts". Select your model and year on whatever site, check the diagrams for what you need.

Word of warning, it's gonna be expensive if you get it new though. Try ebay for an used part. If all else fails, aliexpress can also help, but it'll take a while.

As you can see by the pic, I went down and bent the left bar some. Would bending it back be a bad idea?

I can understand that.

Well, they do sell whole kits but googling reveals a price tag of ~ 350 USD. As far as going full ghetto, your googling and ingenious thinking are as good as mine. Perhaps just getting a top clamp with mounts for a regular handlebar might be a good start?

As far as drilling goes, i'd avoid it on something structural like that.

Bear in mind you'll also probably need a longer clutch cable. And brake lines. Controls should be okay though, but be sure to measure everything.

>>16320014
Bending it back is not a bad idea. Do be sure to take the controls and grip off the clip on and give a good look at it. If the metal cracked or broke (pic related is a far more dramatic example) you should replace it. If it's just bent, feel free to try your luck with a clamp, vice grips, presses or whatever else you can get your hands on. Careful not to damage the clipon further in the process.

Protip: Get your a service model for your model (also available by googling) and read how to take the handlebars apart if you're getting started with all of this.

the fairings is gonna be expensive.
>>16320014
>Would bending it back be a bad idea?
no, that's what they did at the garage but I still ordered the Handlebar.(for the Z250SL)
Is that Ninja 300 right?

and You should have bought sliders. me too because I slipped too and only bought sliders after
>>
>>16320261
Yup, Ninja 300. We can only learn so much without making mistakes. I'll get a new bar eventually but I can't wait for a new one.

You do not want any adjuster screw PRELOAD on your clutch because preload is unkind to throwout bearings. Lever play at the handle should be about a 2mm before your cable becomes tight.

Examine your service manual to see how your clutch works and things will become clear. SEE line drawings of the mechanism and try to understand the concepts.

The clutch plate stack is held together as a sandwich by the clutch springs. The clutch mechanism pushes the outer plate, typically referred to as the pressure plate, away from the sandwich so the plates which rotate with the clutch basket are not locked by friction to the plates which rotate with the clutch hub. That unloads the transmission gears which permits you to shift.

A little slack is desirable. Very loose will not fully disengage the clutch. Too tight will partially unload/disengage the clutch plates causing slippage.

Err on the side of loose. You will be able to FEEL what happens as you gently pull the clutch lever once you visualize what the parts do.

Outside of chain doesn't matter, but keep it lubricates so the pins and bushings are happy because they wear first.

>unparalleled aftermarket support

>unparalleled

Sorry, HD has by far the best aftermarket support of any motorcycle ever produced. You can build complete motorcycles from multiple sources of aftermarket parts easily without buying a single nut, bolt or washer from the Motor Company. Do that with a BMW or Honda or anything else.

No other brand is remotely close, but BMW does have very good owners associations and decent aftermarket support for a non-HD.

why the fuck are leather jackets so expensive? It's not like leather costs THAT much

I get the styling plays a part, but in the end it's a black/brown jacket with a few pockets on it; the styling shouldn't be that expensive

The armor and craftsmenship counts too but some of these bastards don't even come with armor, and when you buy it it's the bare minimum to pass spec

I mean what the fuck, come on now. I would understand $300-$350, but $400? $500? $600+? How do they justify that shit

I'm just having a merry time scrolling through revzilla looking at jackets that cost 1/3-1/2 of what my bike cost.

I'm really just looking for a jacket that looks "plain", no-nonsense, not over-designed or super fancy. Paradoxically, It turns out those are the ones that cost the most considering they have the least styling to them

sorta like this, which is within my "that's understandable" range. Still can't afford it though. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/oxford-route-73-leather-jacket
