rubber winter tires are yes. studded snow tires are God tier.
>>
>>16315807
Just don't let the bags get wet or that shit will solidify.
>>
>>16315897
That's fine, added weight.

>>16315845
Unless there's nothing but ice I have zero issues.

:^)
>>
>>16315807
You know it doesn't matter that it's directly over the rear wheels right, weight anywhere in the bed will add weight to that axle.

>>
>>16316230
actually the farther back it is, the more weight is placed on rear axle.
what is weight distribution?
>>
>>16316293
Yeah so why not put them at the back instead of over the axle.

Not true. Had Firestone Winterforces on a car and they were excellent in the snow.

As a tow truck operator you are my favorite drivers.

>Snow tires don't do jack!
>Why's my winching bill $300?
>>
>>16316385
Funny it's been working well for many a winters, never been in a ditch it stuck. Granted this is Washington winters aren't that bad here, but it hasn't failed me yet.
>>
>>16316315
>>16316293
You dont want them at the back because that's asking for a pendulum.
>>16315807
Yeah I'm sure those are telly gonna help you brake or turn, numbnuts.
>>
>>16316617
>Granted this is Washington winters aren't that bad here
Holy fucking shit Walter that might be the reason you haven't gotten stuck!

Every fucking time there's a discussion about winter tires
>well I never used them and *I* never got stuck!
>but ofc i life somewhere that doesn't snow much :)
>I took my car out in a light dusting of snow once the roads were already clear and everything was fine :))
>>

Where at in WA br/o/?

I envy your weather but I don't envy your roads or people (for the most part)

I also envy your lax emissions laws

We don't get extreme weather but that isn't to say we don't see a good amount of snow and ice.

Thungs happen that you can't always predict. The shorter stopping distance can save you.

if you get into an accident those will fling right through you back window at 999999 miles an hours and kill you
>>

this. And if you keep safe distance you're gonna be holding up traffic.

And if there's a patch of black ice on the corner you don't know it's there you're fucked

even though this thread is cancer I'll ask a serious question

I had studded Hankook Zovacks years ago and they performed way better than the Pirelli or Bridgestones I have had since. But they were noisy as fuck.

Hankook doesn't seem to make them anymore, can old stock tires be ordered?
>>
>>16317009
winter tires don't do jack shit on ice. they help a lot on snow which is great during and right after a blizzard but once the road gets a coating of ice it's pretty much 100% down to driver skill. the solution for ice would be studs or chains but those are also illegal in many areas
>>
>>16317130
sounds like you have never had studded tires
>>
>>16317057
op may be a faggot but thats probably $40 vs $400+. don't have to be poor for that to make a difference, this is the bus board after all.

>chains are illegal

What shit state do you live in? Although I usually just drive in my tractor when the snow is actually bad.

>going to get groceries in my pimpin tractor
>clear old lady's driveway in like two seconds
>some schmuck who doesn't own a tractor is stuck in a ditch
>just pull him out because I'm in a fucking tractor
>oh no they haven't cleared the road here
>tractor
>get to grocery store
>buy some milk and some corn flakes
>throw that shit in the bucket cause I'm in a goddamn tractor
>took me like 3 hours but it doesn't matter 'cause I own a tractor
>>
>>16317104
Dont, even if you find a way. There are much, much better tires out there now.

Where are you located, what size tire and where are you ordering from?
>>
>>16317361
>lame
The fastest car on Earth is a rental car, anon.
>>
>>16317529
First of all, no, second of all, I didn't say rental cars were lame, I said I would get a lame rental car. It'll probably be a prius or some shit.

How does quick-drying cement work anyway? Shit bothers me.

That says sand, anon.
>>
>>16317104
cooper weather masters or firestone winterforce tires look like this you could check those out.
I just got some general artics and they seem good thus far but havnt tried them in deep snow
>>
>>16317379
can you even drive with chains for a legnth of time? it seems to me they would rip themselves apart.
also idk why people before a storm go and buy milk and bread that shit has the shortest shelf life.
>>
>>16317650
it also says quikrete

confusion understandable

>>16317589
it just sets quickly, it's concrete- not just cement

it still needsa few days to cure
>>
>>16318668
I have some weathermasters on my shitbox, they have an agressive tread that really digs into snow.

Breddy gud for a cheap tire.
>>
>>16316796
It's probably snow.

You know, that fell. And landed between the cab and the shell.
>>
>>16320828
Ah. I don't live where it snows so I have had zero experience with stuff like that that happens when it snows.
>>
>>16318680
I've driven for miles on them. I drive a F550 plow truck in the winter and when it's hairy as fuck I'll have chains on all day.
>>
>>16320895
Local post office always chains up its trucks. You can tell the guys driving them are having a blast on the unplowed tertiary roads just gunning it along.

Nobody else does that so I assume the post office has some sort of special legal or financial plot armor.
>>
Just bought some mastercraft glacier grips

To stud or not to stud
>>
>>16318680
>can you even drive with chains for a legnth of time?
Yes, but not over like 30 mph

>idk why people before a storm go and buy milk and bread that shit has the shortest shelf life.
I don't know what people do to stock up, I literally cannot be snowed in so I don't really give a shit.
>>
>15 miles from home
>Traffic has all the streets at a dead stop
>It would take me more than 5 hrs to drive home
>Too scared to take this corolla on the street cause lack of experience/balding tires

Any tips for spending my night in the car? Also what a good awd car to buy?
>>
>>16321741
When the engine is on, keep the blower motor at full blast drawing from the outside and heat at maximum. That way you warm up and don't die from fumes.

Engine off when napping. Stop having bald tires. Most AWD is pretty reasonable for the average person these days. The internet is pretty right about which AWD is for racecar drivers.
>>
>>16318680
>idk why people before a storm go and buy milk and bread

People do this shit around here, they're retarded

If you're going to be locked in for a day or two, you want to drink milk the whole time?
>>
>extremely autistic when choosing winter tires
>muh consumer reports
>muh reviews
>have to consider the BEST option

>literally go to the tire store and buy the cheapest shit for my summer tires

no anon, SUMMER tires are a meme
>>
>>16322043
Traction is way more important in the winter than it is in the summer unless you're a fucking stoplight hero.
