Is it legal up in Norway for the wheels to be out further than the guards? It's illegal here unfortunately.
Austria, 2004 BMW E46.
>>16307249
Nope, not legal to any of it stick out
Putting tires more than 5% bigger or smaller than what is specified in the title is also illegal. You can get it approved to have a bigger size, but for that you'll need verified documents from the car manufacturer or TÜV for your exact car saying that its safe... and that shit is basically unobtainable. This is the reason why companies like Arctic Truck and Fjallasport are doing good business selling modified & approved cars as they are allowed to modify and get it approved

They just hold their value well as they're easily the most solid and reliable pickup, if not the most reliable VEHICLE available
If you want cheaper with less kilometres and all that you can go look at an L200 or a Navara. Both have more power, can be found for less money and so on, but none will ever last as long or "feel" as good as a Hilux. Also, Hilux is more set up for worse roads/offroading, and has a much, much bigger aftermarket

So is the tech, or mostly even older. It's a $30k car that still has ye olde dipsticks, manual transfer case, filament bulbs everywhere, no electronic gizmos like a rain sensor, etc. On the bright side, there's less stuff to break, and it shouldn't start falling apart after 100k like many "new" SUVs.
>>16308743
What's wrong with dipsticks?
>>16308751
Well, with electronic sensors you don't have to open the hood to check the oil level. But they usually don't put a sensor in the slushbox, and an electronic sensor can't check the oil for dirt.

Thanks for the tips, I'm mostly just worried about norwegian police and motor vehicle authorities when it comes to modding the vehicle, seems like pretty much anything is illegal, it already has valenti tail lights and inividia N1 exhaust (which is loud as fuck, might switch it to stock or a different system) and a different air filter.

We have to show our vehicles to the equivalent of the DMV every 2 years to be inspected. Its mostly for safety but its technically not legal to modify anything on your car, even the wheels need to be +-5% off stock, lowering needs paperwork and has to be approved at the DMV.
You cant add horsepower to your vehicle in any way without incurring a tax of about 150USD for each horsepower increase.

The weirdest stop I've had was in Akershus back in 2012, a few kilometers from the SV-station at Drobak. Me and two other friends were driving from Trysil to Ski, and we'd just been to the station as the owner of the car had lost his wallet the night before, and needed a temporary license. I'm in the backseat, kinda tired after having slept little and also having just driven 2.5 hours right after waking up. Suddenly; woop woop. Grey X-Trail or Pathfinder with blue lights are pulling us over. We stop, and two police officers in civilian clothing, but with vests and pistols get out of the car and wants us all out of the Merc. We're asked to empty our pockets, take off our jackets and lift our shirts. After this we're questioned about who we are, where we're from, if we know eachother, details about the car the owner oughta know, where we're going, who we're staying with and if another officer can look through the car for a few minutes. After he had searched the car (and spilled the contents of a 58 piece tool set onto the road) they said it was ok and that we could continue.
No explanation as to what they were after.

Yes ,we did turbo'd the 1.4 16V engine. I'l ldrop you a link talking about it, actually a review of it as an used car. If you're serious about this ,perhaps you can find one that was totalled and buy the whole engine (i'm not sure if the turbo can be applied to a 1.4 16V engine that didn't come out with the turbo originally).

but isn't tuning actually heavily fined or something like that? I heard it's pretty hard actually, that they Crack down on tuners n stuff.

It actually is, if you don't have something factory-made or not approved by the local DMV and INMETRO (a organization that regulates product quality and etc, they certify that your tuning won't endanger you, etc).
>>16319886
> they also have TÜV equivalent
do you have to go to check ups every two years, too?
seems like our rules seem to be closer than I thought.
>>16319942
I'm not sure about the regularity but i'm fairly sure there is a regularity, too. by the way, the DMV (aka DETRAN, federal organ is DENATRAN) prints on the vehicle's document the modifications.
Plus you can't race on the streets, or your car gets impounded.

same here, you'll have to get it written down and approved in the papers.
