This summer my dad bought pick related and all I can say it's a rusted out shitbox. After a few months (bought in august) he says his decision was kinda rushed and regrets it. Sells he wants to sell it and said I can have it for half the price and go nuts with it.

Problems it has so far:
>Cracked windshield
>Rust, lot's of it
>No radio unit, nor speakers
>Interior in somewhat poor condition, but bearable
>Battery drains rather quick
>Fuel hatch button doesn't work, nor the hatch itself, it was busted open by previous owner
>Doesn't properly shift to second gear, shifting to first gear is impossible if the car is moving
>No power steering, no electric windows or central locking
>>
>Siphon fuel into can
>pour can around interior
>????
>profit

Don't.

If you're not going to restore it completely (ie fix the rust and repaint) then don't even bother.

You can buy one without rust.

I have no interest in buying an actual Matiz, senpai. Just tought that for 200 eurobucks or less I could buy it for shit and giggles and have a small hobby that I won't regret if something fucks up.

Don't get my wrong, if I get it, I'll maintain it (and yes, I plan to fix the rust and repaint, it's a no-brainer), but just that it would rather be an experiment-car.

professionally, or with bondo and spraypaint?

Mad Max it.
Try fixing with junkyard parts.
Don't be afraid to brake stuff since it's a shitbox anyway.

Depends what you mean by professionally. Parts that I can do myself in the garage, I'll certainly do them alone. Anything else that I fail at will seek assistance, plus I have an uncle that works at a car service and is specialised on body parts so he can help me with a bunch of things.

Altough I considered looking for spare parts at a scrap yards in the hope I can find doors and hoods in a better condition than what the car currently has.

How much do you plan on spending on it?
And what is your goal? To have a mint Matiz? What are you going to do with it?

Just looked at the images in the imgur gallery.
I don't think I have seen many cars that are that rusty. Do you even realize how much work is required to fix the rust? You're going to kill yourself after you've fixed it and realized that you've done months of work on a fucking Daewoo Matiz.
>>
>>16298037
you still have to use filler even with proper patches.

>>16297958
my point was that, paint and body work is extremely time consuming and/or expensive depending on how much you do yourself. it's not even worth it on a 200 euro shitbox. unless your goal is to make it mint again.

otherwise just run it into the ground.

Gee lad, don't know. Drive it probably? I have a Seat Leon for my daydrive so I don't really need a car, but assuming I go ahead and accept my pops' offer I could use it as an alternative car. Other than that, again project/hobby to kill free time with.

I've driven it personally on many ocassions. Besides the gear-shifting problem and the fact that the clutch works a little bit awkward I haven't encountered technical problems.

>I don't think I have seen many cars that are that rusty.
I realise the car is literally shit and it would be a time and money vacuum. I was the first to see it from the seller before my dad because he wasn't in town and asked me to check the car for him. I informed him about the state of the car, what it has (or rather, what it does not) and even the guy selling it openly claimed "after you're done with the car, well you're done with it". Despite that he still bought it and said he desperatly needed a second car rather quick as he works out of town and he can't take mum's car with him. He now said he kinda regrets buying it, but claims it came really handy.

The technical inspection of the car is due to expire this january and he fears tha he might not pass another if he doesn't do some changes (replace windshield, fix gearbox, whatever needed) and he says he might get the rid of it and buy a new one.*

He just said to me "if you want, I'll give it to you for half the price (~150 euros I'd pay) and you can do whatever you want with it". I am just legit courious of what your opinions are and if it's worth to have it around as a little fun project/boredom escape.

As previously mentioned, I tought of searching for body parts in scrap yards and see if I can get a cheaper job by simply replacing the hella-rusted parts with newer ones.

I want y'all to keep in mind I didn't buy it nor am I set on buying it, just wondering what others may consider in this aspect.

matiz is the shitty shitbox of shitboxes.

under them are only those 25km/h limited lawnmower vehicles
>>
>>16298472
That car will never pass inspection. Tell your dad to drive it to a junkyard. Its done dude.
>>
>>16297740
Don't bother, it's a nasty shitbox from the worst manufacturer.

It isn't worth wasting money on imo
