Should I get a '14 Miata or a '13 Toyobaru?
Miata
Neither. Get a 2016 Miata.
Toyobaru

Too expensive and I want a hardtop.

Which is it??
i'd get a brz because i'm a bit tall
>>16297170
get a toyobaru over an nc & nd miata, unless the nd miata is club spec, then get the club nd.
before anyone mentions it, the fiat 124 is a pile of shit & should definitely not be considered.

budget? cash or financing? how much down?
>>16297357
Budget is 10-20k, preferably on the lower end. Planning on putting 10k down and financing the rest.

get an slk
86 if you need backseats and want a more rigid chassy
Miata if you want a convertible and don't need the extra space the 86 offers
Also you could get a really nice (2012ish) NC with low mileage for less than 15k now, so you might be able to avoid financing
Last time I checked 86s are still around 17k used in good condition

Is the BRZ any good for tall people? I am 6 foot 4 and never sat into one because of that.

It'd be worth looking if the NCs have the suspension package, which means it comes with a LSD in the back. You can tell if it's got it if the shocks are yellow.

Coming from someone who daily drove an NC2 for 3 years, get the Subaru. It has larger aftermarket support, has much more practicality, and has a way better interior. If you want a hardtop it is better in almost every way. If you want a convertible super badly or have another car it boils down to personal preference.

Alright, thanks for the input
Toyobaru
better aftermarket, nicer interior, standard limited slip diff, and more practical.
Spending less than $1500 on headers and a tune solves the annoying torque dip and makes the car so much damn fun to drive.
t.best bro has a 14' BRZ
