why are americans such bad drivers?
>>
That's silly.

Americans spend more time on the highway than anyone else in the world, especially compared to europeans who live in clusters in cities.

highways are more dangerous than city driving

It's simply because American cars cant turn.

Drivers test is designed so the average american can actually pass it as car is a basic freedom, so the overall aptitude of drivers is lower.

It's called weighted.

When there's more people on the road there's more likely to be an accident.

Simply doing per capita or by miles traveled means nothing. Maybe if you weighted it against population or traffic density it would mean something. But as it stands it's meaningless data.
>>
>>16297115

>When there's more people on the road

the US are also huge
>>
>>16297119
And we also have a lot of land too!
>>
>>16297115
Also weight it against average speed, average year of car, etc.
>>
>>16297115
>expecting a country in the bottom third of the world in terms of population density to have a high traffic density
Stop moving goalposts.
>>
>>16297115
they are less people on the road tough
the US have a very low density of population so there is more road for each habitant than in europe
but any way you guys have more accident because your driving licence is a joke

If I'd hazard a guess, I'd think it was because the US is mostly a post-automotive developed country. The US built everything around the car being the main mode of transport. Since the vast majority of population absolutely need a car to do anything, the US has a lower standard to get a driving license so that nearly everyone can drive. All the countries that are above the OECD median listed on your table are Nordic and Germanic countries with very high driving standards.

nvm

>the US have a very low density of population so there is more road for each habitant than in europe

citation, bud?

and no, the us isn't low density. we have more people living in higher density than your shit country.

do you even understand statistics.

you don't just take the entire land mass and divide it by population to get density you absolute idiot.

>more road per inhabitants
means nothing when 90% of the road is seldom used.
If you think switzerland has the traffic density of all major US cities combined you're a fucking retard.

>>16297186
It's not perceived safety when you hit something with less mass... which is what most car accidents are

Holy shit europeans can't into physics or stats. Actually embarrassed for you.
>>
ITT: more evidence yurocucks should be range banned from /o/
>>
>europeans dont know that ratios aren't weighted
>>
My guess is that it will be socio-economically related. Basically, poor fucks are gonna do poor fuck things like driving while intoxicated because their life sucks and they know it. Add in that that can't afford to live in cities where there's emergency services that might be able to do something about it in less than an eternity and they end up dying because of it.
>>
Fun fact: The Autobahn is actually Germany's SAFEST road network.

Also post the percentage of the 100k inhabitants that drive...

Or is this per 100k drivers?

Because inhabitants could mean half of the 100k take public transportation

While in America EVERYBODY and their blind grandma drives
>>
>>16297270
Compensated for with deaths per billion vehicle kilometers.
>>
>>16297228
No.

More population means more people living in the same density areas. Which means more crashes.

You can't just average with per capita. It doesn't work that way. If you increase the population and density stays the same the per capita accident rate isn't linear.

That's why you see low population countries, even when dense (like Monaco with zero deaths), at the low end and high population countries even when normalized for average income at the high end.
>>
>>16297276
It doesn't account for traffic density.

>>
>>16297011
It's simple, we have essentially no public transport and a very large population of old people who still drive
>>
>>16297331
The Autobahn is the definition of speed differences. What makes the difference is the presence of guardrails so vehicles rarely run off the road into trees or into opposite traffic. Also stringent obligation to drive on the right unless overtaking. America is full of shitheads cruising in the left lane and more shitheads seeing themselves forced to weave through traffic as a result.
