I want to get one and do the following
>replace leaf springs with coilovers

>swap in a Honda f20c and install a supercharger
>install a sequential dogbox
>install a welded diff
>replace windows with acrylic
>put on a matte black wrap
>paint chrome trim pieces green
>strip interior
>install sparco seats

You'd be amazed at how much the engine in those fuckers weights. They're pretty solid and can be boosted over 400hp without a hiccup but HOLY FUCK, the F7P/F7R engine a boat anchor.

Exactly zero reason to switch to IRS from solid axle, unless you're really looking for the ultimate in road comfort.

I can't seem to find the article, but there was a 1st gen Camaro that ran autox competitively that switched to IRS after racing previous seasons with the solid rear axle. They went slower with the IRS.

If you have half a clue what you're doing when it comes to suspension, a solid rear axle will let you take corners faster than 99% of cars on the road.

Even a propper four linked and wattlinked volvo 740 still has less corner grip than the 940.

The solid axle is better in taking a beating, easier to control in a drift, and better grip in a straight line. Also (close to) no alignment issues.
