Get a panther like a late model Town Car or Grand Marquis. it's basically the last of the breed of large family sedan, bulletproof, has a V8, massive trunk space, seats 6, and is super comfy. of course at best the MPG is 15/25, depends how cheap gas is where you live I guess. maintenance tends to be cheap though, no shortage of spare parts or mechanics who can work one.

I couldn't help you if you are dead set on an SUV, but crossovers are literally a meme. It's a hybrid between SUV and hatchback but worse than either, so definitely don't get one of those.

Or you could just get a minivan like the Oddyssey or the Pacifica or something.

Got to be 4 door. Dual carseat are hard enough to fit, when they both rear face it's worse. But your infant seats, then go car shopping. Seriously, it's not like singletons.

My taco double cab was useless until the seats went forward. Basically there was 6"between the driver's seat and steering wheel- physically impossible.

Our xc90 worked until it needed more repairs than it was worth, and we switched to a grand Cherokee, then upgraded from infant carriers to still rear facing seats. In both cases you get used to sitting straight up at the wheel, legs bent.

Note all this is impossible without 4 doors, you simply cannot get to the car seats when they're rear facing. The xc90 and grand have enough room for one medium adult between them, but until the seats flipped to forward facing you could not actually get in.

Father of two kids here, they're out of car seats now but we had to do two car seats for a long time. Out of your list, I say get the Accord. If you get a 2012 or newer, the backseat is surprisingly large. The doors swing open wide enough to easily get the kids in and out. If you get it 4 cylinder, which is enough power, it will be good on gas.l and cheaper to insure. Kids are $$$$... minimize costs as much as you can.

Babies are small until they are old enough to climb on things. Rear seat access can be handy, but it shouldn't be considered an absolute must have, at least unless you and your wife are weak and soft people.

Before they are old enough to climb into their seats themselves (just leaving you to buckle them), they should weigh less than 30 lbs. You can lift 30 lbs and hold it out from your body, while bending down a bit, right? Also your kids aren't going to notice if you don't have 60 lbs of gear along on every outing. Don't fall into the trap of buying a ton of shit that's supposed to save you a little bit of effort, and then expend and ton of effort bringing it everywhere. You should be able to fit everything you'll actually need into a carry-on sized diaper bag, most of the rest is just unnecessary bullshit. Parents are marketed to incessantly, and not for your own good, but rather for the profit of the companies selling baby widgets.

I'd agree that you'll want something safe, but disagree that a crossover is a must. If you want that commanding view, I guess that's the best way to get it, but it'll make you less resistant to tipping if you spin into a ditch while instagramming your twins both being asleep at the same time (rare enough you'll understandably want proof).

Mine are 2 and 4, and I went from an E36 coupe to a 5th gen Camaro SS, the missus went from a Kia Sorento to a first gen Chevy Volt.

If you're stuck on Honda, they make good cars, but in terms of low cost of ownership and good safety, they aren't the only fish in the sea.

Then comes forward facing day. We bought lighter smaller seats for my taco, still can't get a3rd person in, not even a kid. Next came the grand and... The seats didn't fucking fit. Now you've got $500 of seats that don't fit in your car.

On top of that going forward is harder to get them in, as you're still loading, because your shoulder is basically in the b pillar as you lift them over the seat.

The rear area in the jeep barely fits a dual stroller, but that's ok because every foot longer the vehicle is about a mile miss you have to walk a day because of how many times you have to go from one door to the other and back again just to get them loaded and settled.

So the gist is get as big as possible rear doors, and largest seat to seat gap 4dr. Honestly if I had to do it again I'd just go minivan cold turkey. Hell I daydream about how easy it would be to put them in a minivan, and my life is way better since they're three and can actually climb in and a at least snap the buckles.

Seriously is all about the car seats, and you can go to baby's r us and test fit all day. I highly recommend it, including taking your test drives there because even with an engineering degree and all the research I got fucked twice (and that's with test fitting at babies r us).

replace chain tensioners, chain guides and install a cam phaser lockout. no need to replace chains

then replace all 32 rocker arms with new ones

finally make sure you do the spark plubs but take extra precaution so they dont break or strip
you can also get an ecoboost but you would be much better with the v8

My dad had a Renault Fuego when I was born. maybe I was just a well behaved baby, but they seemed to do just fine with a nice sporty hatchback till it started falling apart when i was in grade school, at which point he got a Ford Escort, which lasted him a good decade till he crashed it.

you dont need to carry a fuckload of shit, and if you need a stroller you also don't need those clunky, bulky things that you can's collapse. Get one (or 2, I guess, considering-) of those small foldable cloth strollers, and then just get whatever you want. I mean remember, all cars have to adhere to safety standards, so realistically, it's bullshit to assume some are going to be somehow magically safer. if you are in a bad enough crash that someone dies, then they will die regardless. And realistically, SUV's are inherently LESS safer than sedans because they are higher off the ground, which makes them far more prone to tipping over.

Last, never forget that everything is different for you than parents of singles. Three single kids in a row are not the same, nor as fucking brutal as twins. The car seats are just the tip. You'll seethe at mothers with one baby happily running to target and treating you like is merely twice as hard. It's not. It's way worse and you'll come to resent their easy happiness.

On the plus side you'll have so little time for yourself that it won't matter what you drive, and you'll deserve something for going through it all. I bought a motorcycle when they were two just to get the fuck away in my head. Sure I only got to ride to get milk or diapers, but my GOD being by myself not having to think was worth it.

Also enjoy your time in the nicu, it's a glorious period where they aren't really your responsibility, and the last hundred times you'll drive by yourself guilt free for a long time.

Let me point out that you has one, then one forward and one rear. You had an infant carrier about the same time you probably went to forward facing. It's different with two. Different geometry. I put my twin seats in the van- a FULL SIZE van when they were rear facing and could not get the kids in because there was no side access.

For one, occasionally? Nothing wrong with 2dr, but op is going to be dead on his feet from never sleeping and have to do everything twice.

Hell my wife and I were in the best shape of our lives right before the twins came and we are both wrecks, still, three years later. Something as small a convenience as car seat access just multiplies value when everything else is impossible and everything is doubled.

Not bad. My dad has a 2015 Fusion. It's actually a pretty solid car as far as modern Ford goes. The trunk is a decent size, and in general it is decently roomy. the Sync will basically make up it's own rules and change the voice commands on you when it wants. But that's not a Ford problem so much as a Sync problem.

This has been in interesting thread has my wife and I are going to be trying soon. As an uncle and a friend to people my age who have kids I have some idea what to get. I currently have a 3rd Gen outback and the trunk space will be key to just throw strollers and groceries in.

Nevermind about me, OP if you were interested in a outback I'd get the H6. Strong engine surprisingly matters with kids just cause of lifestyle. But I see you got the fusion which is makes me ask why out of interest. I would have never figured it as a option?
