It's polyester suede. A great number of luxury cars use it in interiors for areas where comfort is key but longevity and "cleanability" are also important.

It is hard to color-match dyed leather gicen the nature of the material, so most don't even try as it appears Lexus did as well.

This is really nitpicky stuff though. The media embargo on reviews was lifted today, and the three reviews I've read so far on this car all indicate the seats are superbly supportive and comfortable, "typical of Lexus."

Toyota is fucking horrible at interiors lately.

My parents have a '13 Prius and it's fucking appalling. It's a total ergonomic nightmare of nonsensically laid out buttons, the infotainment is tiny, low res, and has a horrible UI, and it's totally made of cheap plastics that have noticeable seams and which don't fit together properly. Oh, and the seats are the absolute worst kind of fake leather. Totally unacceptable in a car that started in the mid-20k range and was like 35k as equipped.

Even my Fiesta ST has a noticeably better interior, which is pretty damning since most of it is shared with dirt cheap base models.
