They're not muscle cars, never race been. They use the same engines, but they're the US equivalent of a sportscar. Not a muscle car, because they're not based on regular car platforms, like a Camaro, Nova, or Mustang.

Yes, but the Viper is known for killing inexperienced drivers, meaning it's a poor daily. The 'Vette is much easier to live with, and the Viper is much more of a direct driver involvement car, meaning it's better suited for track use (and arguably more fun if you want an uninterrupted driving experience).

That being said, the C5Z is a track legend for a reason.

Vettes and Sneks handle just fine if you know what you're doing. The newer corvettes in particular are really nice track cars when compared to their more expensive competitors. I'm considering getting one honestly. They get a bad reputation for bad handling because shitty drivers are drawn to these cars, same with the Mustang. A lot of people hop in these cars (particularly the Viper) and expect it to drive and react like any other RWD 8-10 cylinder sports car, without realizing that they're in an almost entirely different class. They're powerful cars that require some skill and experience to run some serious laps around the track in.
