Really it's just preference between the two
Anything with a very forgiving clutch that's cheap. Old 4x4s like a Nissan pathfinder will do. Civics for hatchbacks, Miata/240sx have forgiving stock clutches and the ka24de is a great engine for rolling around town. S2000... not so much.

Wew, it's 2001 again.
Learned in a 190e and perfected in a Saab 900. 190e had nice clutch travel while the 900 bites a bit high. You'll get used to whatever though. Get something that'll take a beating.
