whats the most reliable brand? honda? toyota? mazda? mitsubishi?

i been saving up all year and i finally have enough to get a 2017 or 2016. i want something that will last me as long as possible. things ive thought about are the civic. corolla and the maxda3. what do you guys think?
>>
They're all good. How much are you looking to spend? I'd personally get a fiesta st, but if you just want a base model economy car I'd either get a Ford fusion, or a Mazda 3.

I've got to say, the ford fusion is one of the most well put together budget cars I've ever driven

20k is my limit. if there's a car thats absolutely much better than the rest at 21k, ill consider it, but im hoping to not spend more than 20k

i didnt even think of the ford. i always figured japs made more reliable cars

After the recession, and the big three got their shit handed to them by the US government, quality improved greatly. See if you can find a good deal on some 2016 stuff. Not much really has changed this year, so most of the cars are pretty much the same. That means the leftover stock from last year they rang to sell pretty cheap

Like damn if I needed a solid reliable DD car that has a good interior, id hop on this

Currently own a 2006 golf and I can confirm it's less reliable and more expensive to fix than my 66 year old second car.

Never fall for the German engineering myth.

You really can't go wrong with a 2016 Corolla. Not any fun to drive, but bullet-proof reliable and decent styling.

I'd stay away from the Focus since they're making all the engines smaller and turbo'd now. I think it's going to be a while before Ford can make the Ecoboost line dependable past the 100K mile mark.

I worked on a 2003 jetta the other day.
Never again.
>starts then dies 5 seconds later
>no CEL
>find out there is a second light for engine related stuff
>no ESP light on
>engine starts and runs normally.
>shut it off
>starts the dies again
>intake full of oil
>clean everything
>wont start at all
>esp light on
>no way to read esp light
>reset computer
>esp light off
>still wont start
>a/c turns its self on randomly
>button isnt even depressed
>car starts and runs for 5 minutes
>then dies
>ac is off again
>esp comes back on
WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK VW!!!!!
come to find out there are 27 different things that can cause a start then die situation.
WAS LITETALLY NONE OF THOSE THINGS
was intermittent fuel pump issue.
>esp tells you low fuel pressure
>why even have CEL?!?!?!?
FUCK YOU VW

i want to buy 2006-8y old car, mechanic i know saying my best bet would be buying audi a3 or a4, fairly cheap to repair and last long, thoughs?
>>
>>16265929
Assuming you live in America no, domestics will almost always be cheaper to maintain.

The Audi in particular has from my experience been pretty expensive and complicated to repair.

>>16265288

Doesn't matter as long as you follow the service interval instructions in the owner's manual
